Greetings from Oregon

Inspiration Photo
Time for another challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog where I have the honor of guest designing this month.  The Scrabble tiles immediately made me think of camping, since we always play Up Words which is a version of Scrabble that allows tiles to build up 5 high. Hubby usually wins, even though it's my favorite game & I'm the one who got good grades in English!  Back to my card--camping in Western Oregon means Evergreen trees along with a lot of deciduous ones.  I used a very old stamp from an Oregon company out of business & stamped it in PTI Ripe Avocado using the generational technique.  I added splotches of PTI Summer Sunrise & Distress Ink Fired Brick to represent the deciduous leaves.  The sentiment stamped in Summer Sunrise is a wood mounted stamp with no company information.  I used a PTI Impression Plate to add texture to the kraft cardstock.

My card design is a simplified version of what Maile Belles showed here.  Please check out the wonderful projects by the DT: Stella, Kirsty, Ros & Char.  I hope you're inspired to play along! Your comments brighten my day, so thank you.

  15. It sounds like your camping spot is beautiful and peaceful. I'm so glad you got to get away. I love word games and have played upwords with the grands. I play boggle online and used to play all the time with my neighbor where you shook the cubes. Also play Just Words that is like scrabble. Your card is simple but outstanding and gives me the feeling of where you described your camping place. I love the colors of the trees starting to turn on your card.

  16. Absolute beauty! And trees are exactly what I think of when I think of Oregon!
As for the word games...me too I was the English major, but it never seems to translate to getting high scores. It feels so unfair! lol

  19. I am so glad you are joining us and your card is stunning. The embossing folder adds a lovely touch to your kraft card base and your stamping is perfect. Love the splashes of ink to represent the deciduous leaves. You created a sort of forest view that I just love. Wow!

  20. I didn't realize Scrabble came in such a unique form; interesting! Funny that we share the same 'lose' position when we play this game with our husbands, and that we both have a strong English background. I blame it on always getting a lousy draw of tiles (like 4 Qs, a Z and a J!). Your card, capturing the beautiful trees of Oregon, has me wanting to pack my bags and head your way. So incredibly pretty! One of these days, I'd love to see Oregon in the fall, and yes - a visit with you would be destination #1!
    Hugs~c
