Celebrate the Season

The Impression Obsession challenge is Season's Greetings.  I combined it with our new theme at Words 2 Scrap By where we want you to make a project inspired by a line or two in the poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas."  I used one of my all-time favorite IO stamps, Cabin (H1830) along with the lovely IO sentiment (D8307) & kept it very simple. This is where we'd love to be on Christmas Eve--a cabin in the snowy woods.  Have to admit I wouldn't like the drive to get there though--haha. I stamped the image on kraft in Memento Espresso Truffle & sprayed with Glimmer Mist.
The cream card front is embossed with a Sizzix Stampin' Up folder.  I think there's enough interest & texture that I didn't use foam tape, so this is mail friendly--yah! I'm also entering at SSS Work It Wednesday & SSS Wednesday. Thanks so much for taking time to visit my blog during this very busy season.

Cards with Kraft

I'm working more than I'm used to right now & I'm trying to fight off a cold.  That probably explains why I'm taking so long to catch up on blogs & get cards made & posted. I did finally finish a couple & since they're both done with kraft cardstock I'll post them together.
First is my entry for The Kraft Journal, SSS Wed, SSS Work It Wed, Stamping Sensations & Penny Black & More. Very simple card that took 3 tries! First I had it completely finished & then realized the branch was stamped upside down! As we say, it's only paper. Did give me a chance to see that I really didn't like the sentiment stamped in brown & that red glitter might be better than silver.
Unfortunately, a white embossed sentiment didn't look right either, but at least I figured that out before attaching the panel to the card. Finally the stamping was good & after trying 3 different bows I settled on the narrow white satin.  In the end it turned out like I wanted.  Don't you think the sparkly embossing powder is festive?  The stamps are Penny Black & the dies are Lil' Inkers.
My other card uses the PTI MIM technique of layered stamping on kraft for Jennifer McGuire's Share Handmade Kindness Wk 4 Strangers with another Card Shower card going to Emily's family.  Super simple 1 layer using PTI Friendly Flowers & Flower Fusion #8 with Brilliance Moonlight White, PTI Scarlet Jewel, Autumn Rose & Simply Chartreuse and VersaMagic Jumbo Java.  Didn't really know how I'd use the little flower stickers, but couldn't resist them--perfect for this flower center, I think. Thanks so much for stopping by.  I'll be checking your blogs soon.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Warm Thanksgiving wishes to all my US friends from a very chilly Oregon! So grateful we don't have freezing rain and no snow or crowds to deal with since we're staying home.  Not a lot of choice since I worked yesterday & will again tomorrow. It's a perfect day to show this card I made & mailed as I am so thankful for all of you. I love Jennifer McGuire's faux textured metal paper--gorgeous shimmer in person & simple to do. The die cut is Impression Obsession & the embossing folder is Cuttlebug Anna Griffin.  So lucky I won the Dew Drops at The Playground & I'll enter my card there as well as Dies R Us & SSS Monday.  Edited to add: Also entering SSS Wed.

Got a happy surprise this week when I received a copy of Take Ten because they published my card! Thanks, Rosemary, for always encouraging me to submit.  If you check out the issue you'll see Rosemary's beautiful work & here's my card using Brilliance inks, PTI stamps, MFT stencil, Sizzix die & Cuttlebug Anna Griffin embossing folder.
One more thing--I received this stamp set as part of a prize & I'd like to send it to someone who can use it.  I'll pay the postage.  Just use Contact Me in the right side bar to let me know you're interested.  I'm behind on my blog reading, but I'll catch up as soon as I can.  Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to visit my blog.

Papertrey November Blog Hop Challenge

Blog-hop-logo
Blog Hop InspirationIt's the 25th & that means 1 month until Christmas & PTI Blog Hop day! Have to work, so made my card after dinner yesterday.  Gorgeous color combo, but for some reason I couldn't come up with a card idea except to use Snowflake Flurries again. I really wanted to use my old Peaceful Poinsettia set & finally just went with simple stamping on a doily (rescued from under my soup cup at a restaurant) using PTI inks Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal & Simply Chartreuse. I wanted to include the silver & couldn't figure out a way to use my silver thread, so just added little silver stickers.

The center berries are covered with Frosted Lace Stickles, but I wanted more sparkle.  MFT Glitter Glaze was on my table so I spread it on the white area around the flower & leaves--super pretty in person. I'm also entering the challenge at Penny Black & More.
Enjoy the hop & I'll catch up with all of you soon. Thanks so much for taking time to visit my blog. Edited to add: also entering SSS Work It Wednesday & thanks to Brenda's suggestion I'm entering at Stamping Sensations.  Edited again: Must be loosing my mind as this card was made with Rudolph Days in mind & I entered it, but left it off my post.  You still have a few days to enter, so check it out.  Also entering SSS Wed.

Christmas Magic

Inspiration Photo for SSS Flickr challenge #32 by Simon.Says.StampHad fun using my pad of glitter cardstock for the current SSS Flickr challenge to use at least 3 of these 5 colors: pink, aqua, darker blue, silver & gray.

I used SSS Village dies, SSS Falling Snow stencil, PTI Sketched Stars, Impression Obsession sentiment, Rock Candy Distress Glitter & Memento Teal Zeal.  I waited until daytime to take the picture, but gloomy here today.  I'm also entering The ChallengeThe Playground & SSS Wed.
Changing topics--My sister loves to make cards, but usually only does when we're together.  At my last visit she wanted to make a couple baby cards & had seen a onesie design somewhere.  I pulled up Pinterest & found THIS great tutorial while she hunted down some old printed papers. We didn't quite get them done, so I asked her to take pictures before she gave them to the new parents. Thought you might enjoy seeing them. Didn't they turn out cute?!  Be safe if you're travelling this week.  I work several days but plan to get in some crafting time & blog reading.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Christmas Butterfly & PTI Motif Building

The sun came out & hubby wants help raking the leaves, so this will be quick.
First up, a Christmas tag with a butterfly. Remember, December is a summer month in the Southern Hemisphere, but actually my inspiration came from a very old stamping magazine with a gorgeous Christmas butterfly card on the front. I was also inspired by Jess's tag on Day 16 of Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags.  I'm also entering the Memory Box Glitter Challenge (Stickles on the MB butterfly body & antennae), SSS Wed Christmas ChallengeTwofers Things with Wings ChallengeHappy Little Stampers Nov Christmas Challenge & The Kraft Journal, Tag Challenge.
Products are: Stampendous sentiment, Tim Holtz embossing folder, Martha Stewart twine, Memory Box butterfly die, Lil' Inker stitched rectangle die, VersaMagic Jumbo Java, Distress Ink gathered twigs & Star Dust Stickles.
Next is my card for PTI MIM--Motif Building. Pulled out my notebook of PTI color combos & found this beauty: Autumn Rose, Sweet blush & Enchanted Evening.  I thoroughly enjoyed making a simply stamped card using images from these PTI sets: Lovely Layers, Twig Wreath & Make It Market Mini: Garden Gild.  Fun to have matching cardstock in my PTI sampler pack. Finished off with a clear Dew Drop--love how the stamping shows through it.  A little behind with reading blogs, but I'll catch up with you soon. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Burlap Tag

Svitlana's Tag
I've been wanting to use some burlap again--it's been ages.  When I saw Svitlana's tag for Day 17 of Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags, I was inspired & here's what I came up with.

I attached burlap to cardstock using a double sided adhesive sheet. Then I die cut it with Spellbinders Reverse Wonky Rectangles.  I painted the edges with Distress Paint picket fence & Distress Ink gathered twigs.  I tried to stamp a little snowflake with Liquid Applique colored with Liquid Pearls Ocean Blue.  That didn't work so I pressed a cardstock scrap into the Liquid Applique (which I had mixed on a piece of foil), heated it & die cut the little Impression Obsession snowflake several times. They were a bit too light, so I spritzed them with Tattered Angels Turquoise mist & attached them to the tag.
I layered 3 IO snowflakes cut from cardstock, covered with Rock Candy Distress Glitter & spritzed with Cork Tattered Angels.  The Penny Black sentiment was stamped in gathered twigs & cut into a flag.  I lightly sponged it with the same ink & mounted the layered snowflake at one end with foam tape.  Finished off with pearls & the brown/cream ribbon.  I'm also entering these challenges:  Loll's 12 Tags of Christmas, Verve Rustic Winter, Happy Little Stampers Nov Christmas & Mixed Media Tag & The Playground.  Hope you're staying dry & warm. Dreary, wet & cold here, but we're expecting sunshine tomorrow which means another day of raking leaves--not my favorite thing--haha! Thanks for your visit--I know everyone is super busy.
