Time Out Challenge #261

I'm back with my card for Time Out Challenges #261, Inspired By Words.  We have a fun quote by Scrapbook.com:  

"I'm a romantic!  I live for long, dreamy walks down the craft aisle."

This was an easy challenge for me, as I was about to head to my nephew's wedding!  It's fun to use graduation or wedding invitations as inspiration for the card.  As soon as I received the invitation, I knew Taylored Expressions Modern Eucalyptus would be perfect.

I had already used the Foil It cards that nearly match the double frame.  Luckily, I have Paper Smooches Geo Frame die which I've never used.

I began by using the layering stencils with these inks:  Altenew Rocky Shore and Forest Glades and PTI Ripe Avocado and Ocean Tides.  Then I used the matching dies to cut out the 2 branches.  I inked the frame with the beautiful, shimmery Delicata Rose Gold, since I knew soft pink was one of the bride's colors.  The sentiment from TE Scripted Sentiments was stamped 3 times with Rocky Shore and then with Versamark, so I could add clear embossing powder.  I splattered lightly with Rocky Shore.  It's hard to see in the pictures, but makes a huge difference in person.  

I decided it needed a little something more, so vellum leaves to the rescue!  These are from PFS Dainty Blossoms.  All the challenge details and wonderful inspiration from my teammates and our guest designer can be found at Time Out Challenges.

Christmas in July plus

As you might guess, Christmas in July is one of my favorite themes!  Couldn't wait to make a card for DCD using my new Taylored Expressions Modern Eucalyptus Wreath kit.  I very seldom buy kits, but immediately fell in love with this one.  Couldn't get it out of my mind & it wasn't sold out days later when I checked.  Luckily, I discovered that I could get a good discount using my reward points.  That did it & I'm not at all sorry--haha!  The stencils line up just using the corner of a MISTI.  

I brushed on PTI Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse, Ocean Tides & Pinefeather.  After using the coordinating dies, I decided to add them to the Tim Holtz Funky Wreaths image cut from shiny, silver cardstock.  The berries die from PFS Layered Wreath was used with leftover pieces of cardstock covered with double sided adhesive.  I removed the release paper & dipped them into WOW Peachy Keen Sparkles using tweezers.  Makes adding glitter so easy. 

This Sparkles looks like a mix of pink & silver to me.  At any rate, it is gorgeous with lots of sparkle & I love how it doesn't rub off.  I'll have to try using it with glue & see if it's just as secure.  The sentiment is PFS Classic Holiday Words & the panel is die cut with PFS Blanket Stitched Rectangle.  

I seldom make baby cards, so don't really have stamps & dies designed for them.  But I wanted to welcome a baby boy, so put on my thinking cap.  Decided PTI Spring Rain makes a nice baby blue, so started by embossing a panel with a Tim Holtz faded stars folder.  

I had FMS challenge in mind, so die cut CAS-ual Fridays stars from PTI Blueberry Sky cardstock.  The edges were brushed with a shimmer pen--pretty in person.  Hard coming up with a sentiment, but finally decided on these 2 words from PTI Tiny Tags.  

Color Hues is calling for Red & Blue, so I made red my accent color using Christmas Red Stickles on the little heart & random dots in the background.

I also seldom make wedding cards, but had fun making this simple one for a family member.  

I got as close as I could to the bride's colors of navy, dusty blue & gold.  The hearts are AJVD, the letters are Flourishes & the die cut rectangle is Gina Marie.

Christmas, Love, Thinking of You

Hubby & I both got our first vaccine doses.  I got Pfizer & he got Moderna.  Neither of us has had any side effects so far, except that his arm was sore for a day.  We're grateful to be in a small town with appointments going pretty smoothly.  I did have to stand in line about an hour & was so lucky it wasn't a rainy day.  Hubby went early on his day & no line at all.  No matter what, it's worth it!

Here's a Christmas card I made last year & never posted.  I used Lumberjack Days embossing folder along with PTI Spruce & Sprigs, Shape Shifters: Circle 3 & Botanical Blocks IV. 

I stamped & die cut the foliage in PTI inks & added glitter glue to the berries.  I tied the die cuts together with a white crochet bow & added some clear dots.  

I'm entering Rudolph Days & SSS Wednesday. 

Next is a card with a heart embossed vellum panel using TE Swiss Hearts ef.  I used an old Gelly Roll glitter gel pen to color some of the hearts--so pretty in person.  

Thanks to my friend Rosemary's inspiration, I die cut 2 AJVD hearts to make an open heart from silver glitter paper.  Then I stacked the PTI love die cut 4 high & double white embossed it.  I also stacked the hearts & colored the top one with the same pen. 

Then I put it in place, but left it slightly above the level of the word.  This might work for hubby's granddaughter's wedding card.  I entered Let's Squash It & SSS Wednesday via IG.

My final card was inspired by one on IG made by my friend, Ivana.  Her new company's grand opening is March 1 & I love the sneak peek card with a floral frame.  My version looks very different, but it does have die cut images framing a sentiment.  

I have a pack of PTI Fine Linen cardstock that I've barely used, so cut a panel & stamped ITP Nifty Plaid in Fresh Linen ink.  I moved the paper slightly & restamped, purposely not completely inking the stamp.  The blooms & leaves from PTI Garden Gild were die cut from Bristol & watercolored with Zigs.  The sentiment was stamped in Fine Linen several times & then in Versamark so I could clear emboss it.  

Love the ITP Essential Sentiments stamp set & coordinating dies.  I attached some fine, gold thread behind the sentiment before attaching it to the panel & added Shimmer Pico Embellisher dots to the flower centers.  Think I'll put an Easter greeting on the inside.  I'm entering ITP PTI Thinking of You Challenge & SSS Wednesday.

May Bride

We originally thought about an outdoor May wedding in Oregon, but quickly came to our senses--haha!  You certainly can't count on nice weather here & instead we went to Lake Tahoe in September--blue skies & sunshine!  

Hopefully this bride has a sunny day--isn't she beautiful?  As you may have guessed, our theme at Penny Black Saturday Challenge is Wedding/Anniversary/All Things Love.  This 2013 PB bridal march stamp makes a lovely card with little effort.  I heat embossed with Liquid Platinum on watercolor paper & added a bit of color to the bouquet with Zig Clean Color markers.  There's a bit of Stickles added to the flowers along with some pink & green splatters.  I heat embossed a strip of cardstock with the Liquid Platinum & attached it to the left side of the card front which I covered with textured pink cardstock. A stitched die was used to give the panel additional interest.  Hope you'll check out the projects from my talented teammates & join our challenge.  I'm entering SSS Wednesday. Silhouette images always appeal to me, which is why I have Penny Black's stamp set called silhouettes.  When I saw that was the challenge at Double D, I determined to use that set--maybe for the first time.  

I began by using my new NUVO stencil brushes to add Distress Inks tattered rose & cracked pistachio over the MFT Fishnet stencil.  Then I die cut it with Spellbinders Labels 18 & stamped the image several times in Brilliance Starlite Black--a beautiful shimmery charcoal ink.  Couldn't find anything I liked for the background, so finally just brushed the card front with the same 2 inks.  For a bit more shimmer, I brushed on perfect pearls--works great since Distress Ink doesn't dry immediately.  

I die cut the next size down label from fun foam & attached it to the focal point & then to my card.  Keeping things simple, I just stamped the 2 words from W&W Big, Bold, Seasons in Starlite Black & trimmed them out.  Now I just need to find a Spring bride to give this to--haha!  I'm also entering CropStop, SSS Wednesday, Stamplorations CAS challenge & Word Art Wednesday.   Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

It's Wedding Time

I seldom have the need for a wedding card, but this summer one of my college roommates from 100 years ago is getting married.  She's been single a long time & I'm so happy they found each other.  I found 2 ribbons in my collection that are very close to the colors on the announcement.  One layer cards are not something I usually make & I didn't actually plan it for this card.  Sometimes things work out better without too much thinking about it. Penny Black makes the most gorgeous background stamps & I chose "peacock feathers" stamped in Encore! Ultimate Metallic Silver with clear embossing powder.  Love the soft silvery shine--not overpowering for this simple card. The sentiment is from Penny Black's "lace delight" set.  The beautiful font was just what I wanted & stamped perfectly in Memento Gray Flannel.  Three white sequins finish it off.  

I used Penny Black's "the bride" for the inside greeting & added just a small row of the "peacock feathers"--leaving room for me to write a personal message.  I put off making this card for weeks--not sure why.  This was a really fun card to make & I hope Cindy will like it.  Thanks for taking time out to visit my blog & hope you've found something to inspire you.

I've missed the last couple

Impression Obsession challenges.  I was determined to get my card made in time for the Colors of Summer challenge.  I looked at my Brush Tree, E7690, & saw a modern bride's bouquet on the order of the one from Pinterest.  Can you see it or did my imagination get the best of me?  For the background I covered a piece of cardstock with pink, purple & green Distress Paints using Gesso between colors.  I white embossed the image, punched the corners & sprayed with Shimmer Spritz Frost.  I mounted the focal piece to the middle of a vellum panel with rounded corners & Heart Flourish, D2145, white embossed in 2 corners.  This was attached to a slightly smaller white card.  The final touches are a purple bow embellished with a pearl & 3 tiny pearls added to the hearts.

Wedding Card for Cathy Fong

Cathy, one of the talented Penny Black DT members, is getting married in a few days.  She's having a mini challenge on her blog to make a wedding theme creation.  I don't have a reason to make wedding cards very often, so jumped at this chance to make one for sweet Cathy.  Mine ended up kind of girly, so it will have to be for the bride instead of the happy couple.  I white embossed Penny Black's Paisley Outline onto white cardstock, cut it out with Memory Box's Grand Heart die & then inked it with Distress Ink spun sugar.  Behind it is a Spellbinders Parisian Motifs die.  Thanks to those of you who told me to put a piece of wax paper next to an intricate die so you can get the image out without ruining it--what a difference!  I finally opened my package of Tim Holtz trims that includes these white ribbon flowers which are easily attached to the heart with glue dots.  I thought it needed a little something more, so added 2 pearl stickpins covering the sharp ends with seed beads using Glossy Accents (which I learned from Janet--jintyoo7).  The verse is one of my original stamps from Embossing Arts who was located on the outskirts of my town until they went out of business.  I stamped it in Versafine Smokey Gray.  I'm hoping I'll be able to actually get this card to Cathy & that she'll like it.  There's still time to enter her challenge if you haven't yet.  I always appreciate your visits & will be checking your work soon.

It's almost a week since my last post, but in case anyone remembers--I'm happy to report there is no sign of the Memento Elderberry flower on my white jeans--hurrah for bleach!
I did get a card made for the Moxie Fab World Asymmetry Challenge.  
I was inspired by this beautiful card made by Julie Koerber.  

I used my new Cuttlebug Geometric Rings embossing folder on the top of a kraft panel & scored vertical lines at the bottom.  The edges are swiped with Memento Peanut Brittle & yellow trim attached to brown ribbon is secured where the 2 designs meet.  The panel is attached with foam tape to the front of the kraft card.  I wanted to use the bird image from Flourishes Snow Wonderful set, but I wanted a circle image.  Then it hit me--punch out what I need with a circle punch!  Love "stretching" my stamps, which I usually don't figure out to do--LOL!  The image is colored by sponging on these inks: Brilliance Pearlescent Ivy & Chocolate, Memento Peanut Brittle & Morocco & Color Box Canary.  A slightly larger scalloped circle is punched from green cardstock.  I mounted the image with thick foam tape over the ribbon & added the 2 green Maya Road stick pins (darkened the green with a COPIC) by sticking them into the foam tape--trick I read somewhere.  The sentiment by Impression Obsession is stamped with Pearlescent Ivy, edged with Peanut Brittle & added to the left top of the card for balance, but I'm not sure if it's exactly right.  I do like this card, though, & now I have another Thanksgiving card made--yah!

As some of you know, hubby & I recently celebrated our 33rd anniversary.  Here's a picture of us at the marina after a day of boating.  Very appropriate, as we were also at a lake 33 years ago saying our vows as we looked out over Lake Tahoe.  Thanks for coming by.  Enjoy your weekend!
