Snow!

Snow is not that common where we live, but we did see some flakes falling about 11pm yesterday.  Wasn't really a white Christmas, but it's been a very snowy day after Christmas!  So pretty when you don't have to be out in it.

I made one more card for Pinkfresh Studio December Holiday challenge.  Love my new PFS Fancy Oval die which I cut from green metallic cardstock.  The 2015 Christmas Wishes Paper Pack is a favorite, so I have to talk myself into cutting the papers--haha!  This beautiful one has about the same shade of green for the antlers as the frame, so had to use it. 

The popped up sentiment is from another paper in the pack.  Finished off with white & green PPP sequins.

Thinking Ahead

I like to send cards when they aren't expected.  The MFT Sketch & MFT Snowflake dies were used on this one ready for a friend this winter. Can you tell I never got my self-adhesive Fun Foam put away?! I'll tell you--that stuff is addicting! Thankfully, it's less than $1 per sheet.  Maybe I can become a spokesperson for them--LOL!  The foil is a little bit trickier with the points of the snowflakes, but still easy & so worth it. The square is a left over piece from another die cut & I used some old double sided adhesive to attach navy glitter.  The background is done with an old Cuttlebug folder, but I did the other side of the card for a debossed look which I really like.  

The sentiment (stamped in Brilliance Starlite Black) & die cut flag are both MFT.  My sister loves blue & silver, so may have to make another one of these with a Christmas sentiment.  I'm also entering the Melt challenge at Inkspirational.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Blue & White Christmas

I die cut some of the largest image in the Hero Arts Bold Pop Design set awhile back. They were laying on my table & I suddenly saw them as snowflakes!  I covered one with Frosted Lace Stickles & layered on a glittered felt MFT snowflake & a pearl.  
The background almost went in the trash after I stamped the coordinating image in PTI Enchanted Evening on white cardstock.  
It didn't look at all like I wanted, so I sponged on the same ink as well as some Blueberry Sky. Then I dry embossed with the Darice snowflake folder & rubbed on some Picket Fence Distress Paint. What a difference! The white embossed sentiment is from another HA set. Always fun when a disaster ends up looking good. I'm entering the Anything Goes challenge at SSS Wed & SSS Work It Wednesday.

Not a Christmas Card

I have more Christmas cards to make, but took a break to make my ODBD Shining The Light challenge entry using dry & wet embossing. Love the Tim Holtz evergreen trees folder & it looks great used on this pretty green shimmer paper. Isn't it the perfect background for the wonderful Robert Frost quote? The stamp set is Quote Collection 1 by ODBD.  I used an old Satin Bronze embossing powder I haven't used in ages. 
You may have heard about the wintery weather in much of the United States. We woke up to snow Friday morning--the light, powdery kind.  We don't even get snow every winter & when we do it's usually dense & wet, so this is very unusual. 3-4 inches is nothing to many of you, but around here it's a big deal.  Here's a picture I snapped at a golf course 1/2 mile from our house.  Hope you're warm & enjoying the weekend.  Thanks for your visit.

Same Stamps, Different Styles

I made a CAS card with stitching for CAS-ual Fridays challenge (posted on Flickr with minutes to spare!) The challenge theme at Merry Monday was my inspiration & I decided it'd be fun to make another card with more of an elegant style. The stamp set is Penny Black's crystalline, 30-018. The fancy gray mat is stamped with diamond pattern, 400-169. Here are both cards.  Do you have a favorite? 

By the way, I think I've finally found a white gel pen that works--Uniball Signo. Two busy days at work & looking forward to the weekend. I know, I only worked 2 days so shouldn't complain--LOL! I do appreciate all your sweet comments--thank you for visiting my blog.

Surprise!

 I must have looked at the calendar wrong--today can't be the first day of Spring, can it?!  We don't even get snow every winter & look what greeted us this morning!  It's actually been snowing lightly all day--wet & slushy on the roads, so no problem driving.  Hopefully it won't all freeze tonight. This is quite a day--my last day working full-time after 37 years.  I'm not worried about adjusting to the new schedule--more time to make cards--LOL!  Of course hubby is hoping it also means more time to get my chores done around the house--bummer!  I'm looking for something part time so we can enjoy doing all the things we like before we're too old!  Hope things are good in your neck of the woods whether it looks like spring or not.
