Leaves & Butterflies

I'm still playing with Yana's alcohol ink marker technique.  My version is simplified & more color block, I'd say.  This time I used my new PFS stamp called Lush Vines to make an entry for PFS July Challenge using the summer theme without the colors.  I stamped in Memento Toffee Crunch & colored with several green Copics & a deep pink one.  Then I white embossed the image slightly offset.  Such a fun look!

To me, lots of green & white says summer--plus the deep pink which I see in lots of hanging baskets in my neighborhood.  I decided on Soft Stone behind the panel & stamped the sentiment from Delicate Wreath in Versafine Morning Mist.  As you can see, I die cut a rectangle window & mounted the panel with fun foam.  The sentiment was a bit small for the opening, so I added the die cuts from Dainty Blooms & a crochet thread bow.  I'm also entering The 30 Day Coloring Challenge & Inkspirational.

I HAD to have MFT Brilliant Butterflies stamp set, but it was still unopened.  When I saw the Twofer Challenge theme is Butterflies, I was determined to use that set.

Here are my 2 very different cards--one for a birthday & one to say hello.  No bling on either one--just liked them as is.  Actually, I think they could both work for a guy or a gal.  Do you have a favorite?

I started with the birthday card as I also wanted to enter MFT Color Challenge.  I picked 2 shades of blue VersaMagic since pigment ink is best on colored cardstock.

The dark is Aegean Blue & the light is Sea Breeze.  The sentiment from MFT Totally Happy & the detailed butterfly layers were stamped in Versafine Clair Acorn.  I used a brown Zig for the splatters.  I'm also entering WAW.

The second card uses the same butterfly as the top one on the birthday card.  This time I stamped in Altenew Hydrangea & Wisteria.  The sentiment from PFS Delicate Wreath & the detailed butterfly layer were stamped in Versafine Clair Nocturne.

I doubled the PTI frame before adding it to the butterfly panel.  I didn't want the thickness of fun foam, so I added 3 layers of cardstock which gave just enough dimension.  No extra postage needed which is always nice.  I'm also entering NBUS & Virginia's Show & Share.

Fortunately, I don't get sick very often, but yesterday was pretty much lost as I recovered from the night before.  I'm 99% better today so had to play with my new SSS goodies--Spring Flowers & Painted Hugs.  

I made a circular shaker card to enter SSS Flickr Challenge #47. Hugs die cut is stacked 3 high & clear embossed. Simple, but fun card that can easily be mailed to a blogging friend. I'm also entering Twofers  & HLS Anything Goes with Dies.  

My hanging basket has grown like crazy & is so gorgeous this year--thought you might like to see it. Hubby picked out the perfect one!  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Birthday Butterfly & Meeting Friends

Time for another challenge at Words 2 Craft By. Our inspiration quote for March is "Just when the caterpillar thought her life was over...she began to fly."  

Lots of possibilities & I went with a butterfly & birthday.  Melissa Phillips recent post called Watercolor Shapes really inspired me, so had to try her technique.  The Penny Black butterfly die was used to make a stencil & I sponged with Distress Inks dusty concord, worn lipstick & squeezed lemonade. I followed Melissa's tutorial adding water drops & blending with a water brush.  Penny Black's music background was stamped in the dusty concord ink with the stencil in place.  Don't think I've ever used this fun sentiment stamp or little flower from the PB set called sentiments.

I splattered the inks & sprayed the panel with Tattered Angels Iridescent Gold which gives a gorgeous shimmer.  The Memory Box butterfly cut from vellum was on my table, so I sprayed it with the same Tattered Angels & attached it with 2 little sequins.  Really a fun card to make!  Hope to see you in the W2CB gallery.  I'm also entering these challenges: Memory Box, SSS Monday, Twofers, CAS Mix Up, & Penny Black & More.

Christmas Butterfly & PTI Motif Building

The sun came out & hubby wants help raking the leaves, so this will be quick.
First up, a Christmas tag with a butterfly. Remember, December is a summer month in the Southern Hemisphere, but actually my inspiration came from a very old stamping magazine with a gorgeous Christmas butterfly card on the front. I was also inspired by Jess's tag on Day 16 of Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags.  I'm also entering the Memory Box Glitter Challenge (Stickles on the MB butterfly body & antennae), SSS Wed Christmas Challenge, Twofers Things with Wings Challenge, Happy Little Stampers Nov Christmas Challenge & The Kraft Journal, Tag Challenge.

Next is my card for PTI MIM--Motif Building. Pulled out my notebook of PTI color combos & found this beauty: Autumn Rose, Sweet blush & Enchanted Evening.  I thoroughly enjoyed making a simply stamped card using images from these PTI sets: Lovely Layers, Twig Wreath & Make It Market Mini: Garden Gild.  Fun to have matching cardstock in my PTI sampler pack. Finished off with a clear Dew Drop--love how the stamping shows through it.  A little behind with reading blogs, but I'll catch up with you soon. Thanks so much for stopping by.
