Thanksgiving Cards

Finally made a card with PTI's Fall Bouquet stamps and dies.  The PTI September Challenge colors are Sweet Blush, Harvest Gold and Orange Zest. 

Fun to use my Sweet Blush and Orange Zest patterned papers a friend gave me.  I also used Sweet Blush cardstock and ink, Harvest Gold cardstock and ink and Orange Zest ink.  The pumpkin, flower cluster and sentiment (Take 3 Fall) were white embossed.  I used second generation stamping with Orange Zest for the outline of the sunflower and leaves before using the solid stamps with Harvest Gold.  The flower center was filled with Stickles.  I need a new Sweet Blush ink cube, so had to stamp the leafy branches multiple times using my MISTI.  Cover Plate: Herringbone was cut from Sweet Blush cardstock and Shape Shifters: Circle 3 from vellum.  I found tiny gems in my stash to finish off this card with more layers than I usually make, but I really enjoyed putting it together.  

As I was looking for an old card in my blog, I came across some I'd made using my neglected Distress Paints.  That inspired me to pull them out for another Thanksgiving card.

I used a wet flat brush with peeled paint, fired brick, abandoned coral and wild honey.  Poppystamps Whittle Field and Trees die was cut from a shimmery copper brown paper which is really beautiful in person.  I found just the right sentiment in GKD Autumn Wreath Builder.  Versafine Clair Pinecone stamped perfectly on the paint, although I did double stamp just to be sure it was completely inked.  I seldom use color block techniques, so it was fun to do something different.  I'm entering JUGS using the picture of the trees in the top center of the mood board.  Also entering Time Out since Fall colors here are shades of green, red, orange and yellow.  The trees have really started changing colors in the last 2 weeks.  My card is also going in the galleries for Poppystamps, SSS Monday and WAW.

Easter and Christmas

I decided to try taking my pictures near a different window & so far the colors are much better.  Yah!  Now I can show you the Easter projects I finished a few days ago.
Thought I'd send my sister some MFT cross stitch tags to help her pass the time.  That inspired me to stitch one myself & here it is.

I chose one of the MFT Easter Egg patterns & just reversed the colors so I have more blue.  The sentiment is from PTI Mat Stack 3 & I used a bit of lace at the top instead of twine or ribbon.  I may attach it to a card like I usually do with tags.  I'm entering SSS Wednesday.

You may remember my acrylic paint flowers card inspired by my friend, Helen.  Before I bought that set of paints, I tried making a panel with some Distress Paints.  One of the colors was really light & the panel didn't look good to me, so it just sat on my table.  That was some time last year!  After making the card for CAS Mix Up, I decided to black emboss images from Poppystamps Little Kindness & see how they looked, rather than throwing away the panel.

Surprise, surprise--enough of them were worth using to make a card!  I fussy cut the images & splattered them with Distress Stain tarnished brass.

The purple textured scrap was also on my table & this time I remembered that Helen had stamped foliage in black before adding her flowers & leaves.  I used PTI Turning a New Leaf & absolutely love how it looks!  The black embossed sentiment is a very old one by Stampendous & I'm not sure it had ever been used.  The panel was matted with black cardstock & I added gold sequins.  I'm entering Poppystamps, SSS Wednesday & WAW.

I took a break from making Spring/Easter cards to get back to Christmas for Rudolph Days.  Most of you know I really love classy, elegant cards.  That's what I made using Uniko stamps Winter Foliage & Season of Beauty with a color combo of ivory, gold, green & red.

The holly was inked with Brilliance Pearlescent Ivy & Thyme.  For the berries I used Brilliance Rocket Red & Pearlescent Poppy.  The last time I actually went into a store before the virus attacked, I bought a gold Pentel Sparkle Pop pen.  I held my breath & used it to color the lines & dots.

You can't believe what a difference it made!  I've tried to use glitter glue in the past for little areas where I wanted gold sparkle, but the pen works so much better.  I gold embossed the sentiment & the edges of the mat.  I'm trying to make flat Christmas cards & really I don't think the focal point needs to be popped up.  I'm also entering ABC Christmas & SSS Wednesday.

W&W and PTI

Overcast & starting to sprinkle, so who knows how many Trick or Treaters we'll get.  Seeing the little ones dressed up is fun, but poor Fritz is not happy with people coming to the door.  
Before all the activity begins, I wanted to get a couple cards entered into challenges.  First is a Christmas card for Winnie & Walter Rerun No 35.  I was inspired by Crystal's holiday cards in red, green & gold.  My graphic borders were made by stamping images from Scenery: Stripes in Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy & Ivy along with Delicata Golden Glitz. 

The Noel die cut was inked with the gold & covered in Nuvo Glaze.  I stamped & die cut the 2 branches from In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals & added some white dots. 

Finished off with gold sequins & mounted the panel with fun foam to a card with the edges sponged in the gold ink.  I'm also entering SSS Wednesday.

Next is my entry for PTI MIM Painted Brushstroke Backgrounds.  I have a few bottles of Distress Paint--not sure any have actually been used until now!  I used Fired Brick, Abandoned Coral & Wild Honey. 

Instead of going to the other room to get my metallic watercolors, I brushed on some gold Wink of Stella I almost never use because it's such a bold, solid color.  It's really gorgeous as well as being so quick & easy.  When it dried I stamped the branch from Turning a New Leaf using Fired Brick Distress Ink.  That didn't cover very well, so I just dabbed on the paint & stamped a few times using my positioner--worked great! 

The word from Counting my Blessings was die cut from the panel & stacked several high using scraps painted with the Fired Brick for the shadow.  It keeps the word from being too hidden.  Finished off with gold Pico Embellisher for berries.  I'm also entering SSS Wednesday.

Birthday Cattails

The theme for June at Penny Black Saturday Challenge is Masculine Cards.  A couple male family members have summer birthdays.  Decided to make one card by die cutting the PB Cattail Clique from self-adhesive fun foam.

Then I applied pewter foil--such a simple technique with a beautiful result.  The background was made by blending Distress Inks mowed lawn & salty ocean on watercolor paper.  I added water drops & blotted with a paper towel before splattering with picket fence Distress Paint.  The 2004 PB sentiment is still one of my favorites & I stamped it in Brilliance Graphite Black.  I'm entering Dies R Us, The Playground & SSS Wednesday.

I have a couple more rose bouquets you might enjoy seeing. Decided to bring more in the house this year, so we can enjoy them as much as the neighbors--haha.

Another 1 Layer Penny Black Card

Our current challenge at PBSC is one layer cards. I was inspired by Maura's card for last month's challenge.  She linked to this video for the background technique. I used Distress Paints seedless preserves, spun sugar & bundled sage. The PB stamps are pointille, constellations & friendship.  I'm also entering CropStop & SSS Monday.
