Hello to everyone staying isolated & safe. Honestly, there isn't a huge difference in my daily routine as I'm home most days. But the unknown & constant frightening news can sure play havoc with your mind. We haven't gone into buildings in over 3 weeks. Yesterday I was wondering how it will feel when I finally do. Of course there are good stories in all of this & we were thrilled to see that one 104 year old Oregon veteran survived the virus. Then I see people allowing neighborhood children to play together & I can only wonder--do you just not get it?!
My attention span seems to have shortened, so I do spurts of reading blogs & will get to you as soon as I can. Making cards continues to make me happy & here's my entry for IO Easter Fun.
A friend let me borrow her IO Leafy Background die & I loved it so much I got one! Here I cut it from light & dark green cardstock. Then I turned one around before attaching them together & I decided to let that beautiful background be the star. Previously I had painted a scrap with my grape acrylic paint & die cut IO Easter Joy 3 times. The top one was covered with Nuvo Glaze, but it just didn't work for the card I was working on then. Luckily I noticed it still on my table & it was just what I needed once I attached it to a vellum strip.
The panel was mounted to a white card base & I added Pico Embellisher dots & a crochet thread bow. Another flat card ready to mail. I'm also entering DRU, the newly revived NBUS, ModSquad & Time Out. My leafy background was a pretty recent addition to my unused stash, but that shows what a good purchase it was to make it onto a card already!
Thanks so much for taking time to stop by. If your blog address is in your profile or comment, I will visit you.
Beautiful card and a beautiful background die. I can see where it will work for many occasions too.
ReplyDeleteLove the turning of one die layer to give such fabulous dimensions. Gorgeous card.
ReplyDeleteWow, love how you layered that beautiful background. Lovely card. Hugz
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific card Greta! I like the lilac sentiment. We have neighborhood kids playing together too, it's insane if you ask me. What are their parents thinking??!! I've been to the grocery store a couple of times. I'm keeping my parents well stocked, I don't want them going out. We drove over to see Sweet P a couple of days ago as a surprise for her. She came out to the front porch and we popped out from around the corner yelling surprise! She stayed on the porch and we stood in the middle of the front yard LOL. It did my heart good though ;)
ReplyDeletethat leafy background is fantastic in the grays and the sentiment covered in the glaze is perfect with it - beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card with the soft green leaves and delicate lavender phrase. You use vellum so creatively Greta, I'm going to have to find mine in the bottom of the drawer. Take care in the midst of the world crisis.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful. And very clever use of those background dies. I love this card!!! Great take on the challenge, thank you so much for participating this week at the Mod Squad Spring has Sprung Challenge

{Judy's Happy Place} Stop by and see me!!!
Like what you have done here on your card. Especially the vellum behind the sentiment. Really makes it pop. Like you we don't go out much but when you are suddenly told you can't, then it is a completely different ball game. Did some weeding in the garden and then suddenly realised that I couldn't just pop down the road to the garden centre for plants and shingle. Can't settle to anything for any length pf time either. We are finding it hard to even work out what day it is. We had 2 Fridays last week because we got it wrong so now we just say every day is Friday and one day a week it will be right!! good to hear that you are staying safe and well. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteFabulous way to show off the design by doubling and reversing the die cuts! Love this so much.
ReplyDeleteLove your die cut leaves background for your beautiful die cut sentiment, Greta. TFS Stay safe and keep creating. Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteI feel the same Greta, we can go for a walk so I try to do that everyday but not in any shops. I can't find any creativity yet though and with hubby in crafting room-we have one room and he works from home in there now-hoping to move my stuff today! And this card is a joy, the leaves look amazing and great joyce to use vellum so we don't miss any of this gorgeous background. Thank you for joining us at Time Out x
ReplyDeletewhat a stunning card Greta. The purple really pops on the vellum and looks perfect against the two greens on the die cut background. Glad you are staying safe. I went out on Wed afternoon for the first time in a week, to get some groceries. Queued up for 10 mins to get into the store - whipped around and was out super fast. Used some latex gloves pushing the cart around and wiped all the items down with a soapy cloth when I got home and washed the apples in soapy water and then rinsed in clean clear water - need to take precautions. Look after yourself and your hubby and the doggie... take care
ReplyDeleteThe leafy die is gorgeous, Greta. And I love the idea that you used it twice using different papers. Great! Thank you for the inspiration, my dear friend. Please stay home and be safe. We live in strange times. Let's hope that all this mess will end soon. Hugs, sweetie.
ReplyDeleteVery clever use of the die and also very effective. Love the contrasting colour of the sentiment and the shine. I am at at home most days too, so if you put your mind to it we can pretend everything is normal and just keep making cards! xx
ReplyDeleteYour card is gorgeous, love that you used the die as your star, it's a fab die. Love the vellum with the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteI'm home most days too, but had to go into town to get something we had to have and I was dressed up in mask and gloves everyone else was walking around as if nothing was wrong. I agree "do they not get it?"
Keep safe and well.

Absolutely gorgeous Easter card, Greta!
ReplyDeleteSo Pretty! I love the offset of the leaves when you flipped it.. very cool design -
ReplyDeleteGlad you continue to hide out at home! It's better there anyway compared to outside these days! hahaha - Yesterday, my son and I took a long walk around the area (about 40 mins.) as we needed some exercise besides work! No one was out and we just stayed in the center of the road and walked up and down some hills... felt good to get some fresh air... :) Stay Safe! :)

What a great purchase this was, Greta! You will get a lot of use from it and I love how you cut it from two greens and offset them. It really is the star of the show and your plump Easter Joy sediment on vellum works perfectly to finish it off and make it work in all the challenges! Take care, be safe, and thank you for sharing at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteSo much delicious texture and dimension from that one cover plate, Greta ... the purple sentiment over the vellum really pops against it! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Time Out! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteA fabulous card and I love the background die.

ReplyDeletePerfect die for an Easter card, Greta! Just love the double leafy layers and the thick sentiment on vellum!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful background Greta! Such a clever and effective idea... I'm pleased to her that you are okay but can't believe people are still ignoring the warnings.. OMG! Yes it was good to hear the queen and made me feel united. Stay well
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Greta! I love how you layered the die, and your color combo is one of my favorites! Very elegant.
