It's Fall

We expected to see lots of Fall color in the east, but actually there's a lot more color where we live.  It's always fun to see another part of the country, though, & we loved the October weather with no humidity!
Flying back into Portland was absolutely breathtaking with all the reds & yellows.  Here's a shot in our neighborhood, but it really doesn't do justice to the gorgeous colors this year.
Amazing the difference a week made.  I started this card for SSS Flickr #82 right before we left.
I used DIs abandoned coral, scattered straw & shabby shutters to match our neighbor's tree.  Now it's practically all yellow.  SSS Scattered Leaves remains one of the best prizes I've ever won--just love it!
I splattered the leaves with gold watercolor & used what was left to paint a scrap of cardstock for the SSS die cut sentiment.  I'm also entering DRU & The Snippets Playground.

I really had fun making my PTI MIM Matting with Glitter card.  Yes, loose glitter is messy, but I still love it & pulled out a very old jar from a company no longer in business.  I painted the edges of my PTI Don't Forget to Write die cut card with FlitterGlu.  Then I poured on the Foxfire glitter--so pretty & sparkly with a combo of black, green & bronze.  Just couldn't capture it in a photo.
I used my Mini MISTI to line up all the stamps from PTI Take Three: Fall.  The pumpkins were stamped in Canyon Clay multiple times & the sentiment in Brilliance Graphite Black.  I added little black nail heads from my stash.
The panel is mounted to a slightly larger textured black square & then to the card with fun foam.  I stamped several more panels while everything was lined up.  I'll show you that design soon.  I'm also entering SSS Monday, SSS Wednesday, Stamping Sensations & Words 2 Craft By.  I'm still catching up with everyone--thanks for your patience.

  7. Pretty cards and it's good to see the Take Three Fall set being used again! I have it and I'm pretty sure I put it in my pile to sell... Not much leaf color on the East due to lack of rain this summer and it's been such a warm October - more like Spring than Fall!

  15. Enjoyed reading your blog post. Our glorious colours here in Scotland are so beautiful too....yellows, reds and coppers. Love the first card, the leaves are amazing and you've captured the essence of Autumn beautifully x The second card is so contemporary and that glitter is so pretty. I am not a fan of dry glitter but have used it recently too in challenges and that's why I love challenges..... Messy and fun! x

  18. Fabulous cards Greta. I particularly love your leaf card. The gold speckles and die cut sentiment are wonderful.

Yes it has been warmer than usual here in the east and the leaves aren't changing as quickly. out back yard is still mostly green with a bit of yellow and red. Came back home and promptly got hub's cold.

  22. Love your leaves card, such beautiful Autumnal colours that show up so well on the background, love the Autumn die too. Your "glitter" card is wonderful, love the combination of colours, I'm a loose glitter girl most of the time too, LOL it certainly shows off the central images beautifully.

  23. Don't know where you were in the East but I can tell you that foliage here has never peaked this late in the season. I feel bad for the tourists who planned their trip at the regular foliage time. I'm sure it has something to do with the very mild weather we had in September and October. Now the colors are beautiful...
Speaking of beautiful - that's what your cards are! Love how you dyed the scattered leaves on the first one and the sparkly frame on your second card!

  26. What a fun post, Greta! Thank you for sharing the photos! We have good color around here, too, this year, but I'm sure not as colorful as further north. Your snippets card is right up my alley - simple, but so colorful and impactful and I love your beautiful glittery PTI make, too!! Hugs, Darnell

Michigan usually has wonderful color in the Fall, but our weather was so HOT and DRY up until a week ago that the colors just didn't do their thing this year...bummer!

  39. The leaves...the pumpkins...two of my favourite fall images that you've showcased beautifully! Your photos are fantastic and yes, the autumn colours are simply gorgeous! We were treated to a 'longer' fall but the snow came last week (about 8 inches) and I think it's here to stay. We're at -14C today...brrrrr!
