Happy Bird-Day
I love the sketch for the MFT Sketch Challenge, so I used it for another MFT Color Challenge card. For some reason, the oval made me think of the MFT Contempo Cage.
I die cut the bird cage from kraft cardstock & clear embossed the top layer. The bird is cut from felt backed with cardstock, including the wing which I covered with Stickles Baby Blue. The sentiment is from the same set & I embellished the cage with a flower from my friend, Maria, backed with one I punched--remember those things?! I've inlaid die cuts before, but never a panel--nice for a little different look. Fun to use some of the little wooden Freckled Fawn pieces I got in a prize package a long time ago. The stitching is Lil' Inker Stitched Rectangles. I'm also entering JUGS, Dies R Us, The Playground, Seize the Birthday, Die Cut Divas & Word Art Wednesday.
We're in the midst of a heatwave, but thankfully cooler days are ahead. Yesterday Fritz had to go to the vet, fortunately we made it before the emergency hours started! We're thinking he may have gotten a spider bite while taking a sunbath on the deck. He has an abscess & is on antibiotics. It's looking better after only 2 doses, so that's a big relief. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

ReplyDeleteAdorable card, Greta. Wow, glad Fritz is better, that must have been scary. He is probably very happy to stay indoors where it is cooler and just lay around and let you pamper him! Thank you for sharing this at Seize the Birthday!
ReplyDeleteLove your sweet classic bird and her pretty cage, Greta! And well done on all the challenges and using snippets! I saw on the news that you are getting the high 90s there, too. Ugh! We are spose to get cooler here, too: down to 95 from 105, haha! SO much cooler, isn't it?! Hard to believe we are only 45 miles from the ocean! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeletewow...!!! I don't know how you do it, greta!! one great card for 7 challenges!! love that you used the birdcage for the oval element!!
ReplyDeleteGreta this is such a sweetly fun card. Love the felt and the stickles on your sweet bird.
ReplyDeleteGreta this is perfectly delightful!! Love the pink and gray with the sweet little sparkly winged bluebird!! Poor little Fritz, hope he's better soon. It's so hard when they can't tell you they don't feel well. Max once had a spider bite on the very tip of his little tail. Poor little guy was itchy and sick for several days. It took a couple of trips to the vet, lots of Benadryl and shots.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome card, and so so sweet too!
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been able to spend much time here in blog land, I got so tired everyday when I get back to the hotel room!

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet card. That is a great idea to cut the bird out of felt for added interest. I like the sparkly wing!
ReplyDeleteA sweet little bird cage + bird combination; the sparkly wing is a charming touch! Poor Fritz! Hope he's back to 120% soon! We're having some hot weather, too...I'm good up to a point but too hot makes me cranky *grin*

It's been terribly hot here too. Sweltering. It should be going down and we'll have a nice weekend in the 80s.
