I'm grateful for my cardmaking hobby & all the friends it's given me. Here are some of my recent projects.
First is the card I entered in PTI What do I do with This? challenge to make a card with a winter scene. I seldom make scenes, but came up with the idea to use the view in winter outside my kitchen window. Actually, we seldom have snow, but I do love watching the birds!
Anyway, I stamped PTI Feathered Friends Mini 8 bird & branch in Cocoa Bean, Lovely Lady, Scarlet Jewel, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Harvest Gold & Weathervane. I used a white gel pen & Frosted Lace Stickles for snow on the bird & branch. The oval was inked in DO faded jeans, prize ribbon, kitsch flamingo & wilted violet after I white embossed the snowflake from Enchanted Forest. There's a dot of Stickles in the snowflake centers & lots of shimmer from Frost Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray. The card front is embossed with TE Snowfall folder & PTI Bold Borders: Foliage Soft Stone die cut is layered on top.
Edited to add: Also entering Inspired By Challenge Tweet Winter, thanks to a friend pointing out the challenge.
Next is my card for the ModSquad challenge to make a project with only snowflake images. I pulled out the beautiful Gina K Designs Stellar Snowflake stencil & several blue Tattered Angels Glimmer mists.
The stencil was attached with Pixie Spray to a watercolor panel--worked great! Love the shimmer which changes color as you tilt the card in the light.
I cut it down, added black splatters & attached it to a black mat. SSS Painted Thanks was stacked 3 high & covered with Nuvo Glaze. I added black Pico Embellisher dots & used PTI Rustic Cream to make the card. It goes so good with watercolor paper.
I don't need tags for gifts, but they also make great focal points on cards. When I saw Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas Day 9 theme is Deck the Halls, I had to pull out EH Mondo Holly.
I used Bristol paper to die cut PTI Tag Sale: Quilted so I could watercolor the gold embossed image with my Zigs. The Impression Obsession sentiment was just the right size & the font let me stamp in black without it being too bold. I added splatters of red, green & gold, plus covered the berries with a shimmer pen. I already stamped a panel to turn this into a card, so will show that to you soon.
Thanks so much for taking time to stop by. If your blog address is in your profile or comment, I will visit you.
What fabulous cards and a sweet tag Greta. So pretty and and that tag is fabulous. I really feel for the families who lost people in the tornadoes. My heart goes out to them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful 'View/scene' card, with the cutest of little birds and loving those snowflakes and snow too. The oversized snowflake on your second card looks so striking and beautiful and such a pretty shaped tag to finish Greta x. Yes my heart goes out to everyone with the horrendous news of the devastating Tornado x.
ReplyDeleteYour bird scene is lovely and that snowflake card is so pretty and sparkly. I love the scalloped tag. It's hard to see the devastation in Kentucky and all the states affected. So very sad to see the loss of life and all the people who lost everything in the blink of an eye. Two hundred miles on the ground is so hard to believe.
ReplyDeleteOH! Greta your little bird is just adorable on his fabulous embossed card. Love the snowflake and embossed sentiment card and the fabulous tag, Super creations Greta.

Two gorgeous cards and I love your fab scalloped tag, Greta!! I love your watercoloring!!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Greta, the destruction is just awful. We had crazy wind gusts here, but I know it didn't even compare to what those people went through. It's heartbreaking. On a happier note, your cards are all lovely! Your tag is my favorite. I'm sure it will find the perfect resting spot on a card or even Steve's Christmas gift!
ReplyDeleteOops... I forgot to thank you sharing that sweet little bird with us at IB!!
DeleteAs you say Greta, puts things into perspective, the reports we got here looks dreadful. Pretty cards as always.

Hi Greta! I adore your gorgeous little bird - I've never seen one like it outside my window - perhaps he's there and blends in with the snow? lol
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to find him here in our Inspired By gallery - thanks for playing cards with us again!
Prayers are being said for those affected by those devastating tornadoes!

ReplyDeleteSuch a charming little bird in its scene. The Glimmer Mists shine beautifully on the Mod Squad card and the tag is simply gorgeous. A lovely trio of cards to brighten the day. Thanks for sharing. So sorry to read and see the destruction in your homeland.
ReplyDeleteThese are all such gorgeous projects Greta! Love how you used the Mondo Holly on your tag!
