It Worked!

I love foil, but have not been very happy with the results using my laminator.  Decided to give it another try a few days ago.  This time I used 2-3 sheets of regular weight cardstock rather than copy paper for shims.  The printed toner sheets came out nearly perfect & I had great results using Transfer Gel through a stencil.
First is the tag I made for Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas.  The tag is Poppystamps Tunnel Tags & the stencil is SSS Falling Snow.
I spread on the Transfer Gel & let it dry completely.  Then I foiled it using the GK Sparkling Silver foil.  My felt snowflake has been sitting on my table since PTI SAF.
I was actually trying to make a 3D flower using PTI Lovely Layers, but it looked like a snowflake to me.  I added the blue Sparklet to the center at the time I made it.  The sentiment from PTI Botanical Blocks IV was stamped in Brilliance Mediterranean Blue & I tied on a blue satin bow.

The Twofer Card Challenge theme is Wreath & if you know me, you know I love wreaths.  I don't even know how many wreath stamps & dies I have--haha!
Since the cards must be for 2 different occasions, I chose Penny Black's Berry Wreath from 2011.  I actually justified getting it at my LSS 6 years ago because I thought it could be used for backgrounds all year.
My birthday card began by stamping the wreath (overlapping the images), in white pigment ink on a dark pink cardstock panel.  I used a very old satin embossing powder I need to use more often--so pretty.
I die cut a circle from the panel & glued it to a doily I saved from a restaurant.  The 2004 sentiment was stamped in Memento Lilac Posies--a perfect match to the pink cardstock.  The die cut bow is PPP & I just had to use a bunch of my old adhesive pearls for my girly card.

For the Christmas card I white embossed the wreath on textured gray cardstock.
At the top is a strip of my red foiled toner printed paper & silver glitter tape.
The sentiment from 1992 was stamped on vellum in Brilliance Rocket Red.  Decided embellishments weren't needed.  I'm also entering Allsorts, HLS Christmas, Penny Black Creative ChristmasRetro RubberStamping Sensations & Time Out.

  1. That tag is so stunning with the royal blue bow so pretty. Your twofer is spot on and so smart on using that wreath to mimic a confetti like cloud. Fabulous stuff! Great going on getting your foiling to work.

  2. It's great to see you at Twofer, Greta, and I love both your beautiful wreath designs! Your pretty pink feminine birthday card makes clever use of the wreath in the spotlight center of the design! And I love that you repurposed a doily from a restaurant and how amazing it looks behind the pink center with the little pearls all around! Good job with trying the foiling again! It really makes an stunning presence at the top of your Christmas card! Love the colors and love the vellum sediment panel you used so none of the wreath is hidden! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #11! (p.s. Your tag is sensational!) Hugs, Darnell

  10. You have outdone yourself on these, Greta. I love the silver snowflakes and bright blue bow with a felt snowflake. And how cool to use the wreath as a center for the birthday card. Using the restaurant doily shows once a crafter, always a crafter. We look at things differently than most people! The red and gray card is just stunning.

  30. Your tag is beautiful and your wreath cards phenomenal!
Love the background you've created on the birthday card. Funny, that was also my first idea but it didn't look so good with the wreath I used! So you mean I am not the only one who saves doilies from cafes??? I have a beautiful sitting on my desk...
The Christmas card looks so festive with the strip of foil and silver and the vellum sentiment! Wonderful designs, Greta!
Thanks so much for joining us at the Twofer!

Love the 'snowflake' too! ;) I often do the same - intend to make something but it turns into something completely different! I have to agree with the wreath obsession wholeheartedly, too.
