Sketch By Alexandra |
Next to Christmas, Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday. I sent a lot more Valentines this year, so my stash needs rebuilding. It always seems to be upon us right after the holidays, so I'm going to make them all year. Besides, I had to try out my new Lil' Inkers Smooches stamp set I won last month. My wonderful blogging friend, Alexandra, provides tons of inspiration including sketches. This is one of her newest ones & I was immediately drawn to it--simple yet unique. The dry embossed panel is from a 12x12 piece I bought before I had any embossing folders, which are now overflowing their box--LOL! I love doilies, but don't seem to get them onto my cards very often. This scrap I saved worked perfectly here. My white cardstock scraps are taking over the house, so it was good to make use of a few. Muah is stamped in Memento Rhubarb Stalk & XOXO is white embossed. I used emboss resist for the sentiment using the same ink, hand trimmed it into a flag & mounted it with foam tape. Lil' Inker Stitched Rectangles was used on the card front.
My card is flat for mailing as I used some Rain Dots for embellishment. I'm entering challenges at Lil' Inker, Virginia's View, Pixies Snippets Playground (just for fun--not the drawing), Addicted to Stamps. Thanks for your visit--I always love reading your comments.

What a great card ... There can never be enough love!
ReplyDeleteYou gave me such a giggle with your remark about the white cs scraps! I spent a whole day organizing my scraps and it was ridiculous when I discovered how small some of the pieces were that I've been saving!! I love the crispness of the red against all the white- nice texture too:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome Valentine card! Love all the detail...gorgeous doily and embossing!:-)

ReplyDeleteFab card, Greta! Yyou really should link it up with Retro Rubber http://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2015/03/challenge-10-emboss-it.html
ReplyDeleteI have to laugh, I opened up this post the other day and wondered why it didn't open to a current post... then I got busy and had to leave, but now I see that it is (was) the current post! I have some stamps of women in yoga poses and they look far too relaxed, so now using your friends sketch as an idea I'll have to do something with them. LOL! I really like your extra early Valentine card-love the doiley. Valentine's is what got me into cards in the first place, way back in kindergarten when we exchanged cards. *sigh* Those were the days--cookies and coloring and naps.
ReplyDeleteOh this is so fabulous.
ReplyDeleteStunning card!! I love the doily and dots!! Thanks for playing along with us at Addicted to Stamps and More!!
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC take my Friend!
ReplyDeleteThank You so much 😍
The detail on that doily is just lovely! And the repeated MUAHs make this super fun!
ReplyDeleteWOW, you are SO wise to start on your Valentine's Day cards & so creative!
ReplyDeleteI love this beauty, Greta!
Way to go in starting Valentine's cards early! I have a bunch of Valentine's goodies that arrived late (one of the 'joys' of such long delivery times in my direction!) and should talk a page out of your book of organization! Your card: stunning! The doily, the repeated MUAHs, the sentiment (stunning...), the embossing...classy and impressive1
