The Stamp Squad has taken over the Penny Black Blog this week. Here's a peak at the
card I have posted there & I hope you'll go check it out.
I began stamping over 15 years ago when I walked into the stamp store in my little town. I was immediately hooked going every day at lunch or after work (kept them in business that year--LOL!) often purchasing Penny Black stamps.
Soon they asked me to teach a Christmas class. Why I tried to color, who knows, but I still love this simple card with the adorable Penny Black
image, now retired.
Here's my bonus card for today using the old Single Iris stamp & the new Iris Creative Die. This sparkly blue paper was still on my table from cutting snowflakes, as was the white scrap I'd used to die cut the iris for another card. I stamped Single Iris in a soft gray on the panel before dry embossing & attaching it to the glitter paper. The shimmery charcoal scrap with the negative die cut was also laying there so I popped it up as a frame. Finished off with a few white sequins.
I've been so privileged to be a part of the Stamp Squad & hope you've found some inspiration in my Penny Black projects. Wishing you a creative & fulfilling 2014!
Just been over at PB to see your card. It is just delightful Greta as are the other cards here. You have been a fitting ambassador for Penny Black.
ReplyDeleteAs always, your cards are so pretty, Greta. I liked reading about your design process for the lovely iris card. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThe Stamp Squad's time sure went by fast! Love all your cards, Greta! Off to check out your PB post. . . .
ReplyDeleteHello Greta, Your card is beautiful and so elegant. I love the idea to soft stamp with grey then emboss.

The first card is adorable; love how you offset the image panel. The 2nd one is pretty & elegant.
ReplyDeleteOh my, Greta, your story about how you became 'hooked' is too sweet; sounds similar to mine, except mine happened through visiting a couple of specific blogs. Once I'd found those, I was reeled in - no struggle whatsoever! How fabulous that you were invited to teach classes (I bet you were an outstanding teacher in 'real life' as you are here), and your card is beyond charming! I think you have amazing colouring skills; maybe we'll see you explore that talent of yours later this year (hint, hint). Your iris card: love it and I'm sooooo honoured that one of them is sitting, within my view, in my home. I absolutely adore it - and this one is ever-so-pretty, as well! Love the colour combination, the sparkle, the iris...swooning!! Off to check out the Stamp Squad. Hugs to you, dear friend ~c
ReplyDeletei love that you showed the first card you made with penny black stamps, greta! it is very cute! your "bonus" card is so very elegant... love all the sparkle!! so glad that we were able to be on this design team together, my friend!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful story, Greta. Love the cards.
ReplyDeleteOoooh I love this story Greta, what a treat to look forward to and brighten each day with! Your cards are marvelous my friend. Your sparkling iris reminds me of a stained glass window we had in our second house. It was in the dining room and was a long slender window with a single iris!
ReplyDeleteohhhhh, what a sweet story! I love reading about how others got hooked into this hobby. Your let it snow card is just so sweet...love your little girl with the snowman. Your bonus card is stunning with all the beautiful blue glitter, just gorgeous Greta!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Greta! Love the sweet little image and pretty Iris! Thanks for sharing your stamping story :)
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful Greta so is the one in the previous post. The flower looks great using the negative of the die cut over the embossing and glitter paper. The sweet little image is adorable as well. Best Wishes for a great 2014 ! Also, I noticed your photos on your sidebar of your sweet dog Keesha, sorry about your loss, it's hard when our pets leave us, not sure if it was recent. Shirleyx
