No winter last year, but it's making up for it this year! Woke up yesterday to freezing rain which turned into several hours of fluffy snowflakes.
We ended up with 2 inches of snow making a Winter Wonderland. Today we're finally above freezing & it's back to good old Oregon rain.
One of hubby's cousins just had surgery, so I pulled out this Altenew flower stamp my friend, Cat recently gave me. I used the colors for the Altenew January Challenge.
The fussy cut flower was colored with a dark red Zig & a gold gel pen. I'm on a roll adding Diamond Glaze with a fine tipped applicator--love it! The sentiment is from an Inkadinkado set I've had for ages, but never opened until now. Years ago I fell in love with Spellbinder dies because you can emboss the edge, as I did here. The edges of the ivory label were sponged with Distress Inks wild honey & vintage photo. Glad to say, hubby says it's perfect to send to Cuz R. I'm also entering Dies R Us.
No excuse not to enter the monthly challenges at a2z, as I have a huge collection of Hero Arts stamps!
Decided not to put off making a card & noticed my un-inked Flower Swirl Vine stamp. Clearly I have too much stuff, as this is a beauty I've never used! I love the look of adding color to a masked area a bit smaller than the embossed image. I sponged with Distress Inks shaded lilac, tumbled glass & cracked pistachio. Then I brushed on Perfect Pearls which gives such a gorgeous shimmer.
The panel was die cut with AJVD Polka Dot Rectangle which I also used to cut out the center of the dark gray panel. Debated about adding some bling, but honestly, I don't think it's needed. I'm also entering HLS Anything Goes with Dies, PB & More & A Blog Named Hero. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
Another pair of fabulous cards Greta! The first one will warm hubby's cousins's heart. The second is so fancy and elegant. Fritz looks cute in his winter gear. Max would have been on cloud nine with the snow, sweet little guy ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! Enjoy the snow.
ReplyDeleteAhhh... I haven't seen snow for a while, and we already complaining we had a cold winter this year in Vegas, LOL!

ReplyDeleteI see Fritz had his lovely warm overcoat on when he ventured out in the snow. The bad weather is set to be coming our way by the end of the week. Not a good time to be having a major renovation work undertaken. I like your get well card. Such striking colours that youv'e used. Hugs Mrs A.

ReplyDeleteFritz doesn't seem to mind the cold weather. Very smart in his winter coat. Two lovely cards Greta. I love the shape and colours of the Get Well card and the way you've stamped outside the panel looks really good. Barbxx

ReplyDeleteSo glad you joined us at A2Z Scrapbooking.
It's hard to imagine what walking in that snow would feel like; we are sweltering here in Summer with 40C and more on the way. I'm a big Spellbinders fan too and the sponging looks great on the embossed edges. I love the background to the flourish. Have not seen that technique before and I'm keen to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI hope hubby's cousin is on the mend and your sweet card will help with that for sure. I love the look of the sponged center and the embossed image over it. It really makes it pop. Your state seems to be in the news now because of the snow and ice. I see Fritz is warm and cozy and hope you are all safe and warm during this extreme weather.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Greta, I hope your hubby's cousin gets a swift recovery.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and safe in the winter cold!
Love and hugs

Two beautiful cards - I especially love the get well card - the shape and the shiny bits. Yes we are all getting very excited in the London/SE England area - we've had a bit of snow and sleet this afternoon - but pathetic compared to yours!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous inked background and beautiful card.

Love the shape and deep red of the first card! Wonderful detail with the embossing and sponging. And I love the whole design of the second card! I know that technique makes such a shimmery panel and the design is so perfect on it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet, lovely card for your husband's cousin, who will be ever so touched by your thoughtfulness! You're such a gem! The background of the second is perfect for your 'new' stamp and the addition of the perfect pearls adds a wonderful shimmer! Lovely! Freezing rain and snow...not my idea of fun! Glad your weather is 'back to normal' (sort of....).
