For the first time I used the Dina Kowal designed leaf (D13816) which I stamped in Versafine Clair Morning Mist. Interestingly, Dina also has a scrape painting video on SCS where she made stripes instead of a circle. I tried that, too, but will show you the card another day. The sentiment stamp (D14779) was in my last IO order & has quickly become a favorite. I stamped it in Versafine Clair Nocturne. Finished off with a black mat & black Zig splatters. Could add embellishments if I use it for a gal, but I'm thinking it may go to a guy. I have a million ink pads, but this technique has got me shopping for more acrylic paint--haha! Of course, that shopping is on-line or curbside pick up as Covid cases are on the rise in my state & many people are not wearing masks. I support reopening the economy. As one doctor said--unemployment & poverty are public health crises, too. Not taking precautions to decrease cases & deaths is so selfish. I get very discouraged hearing people say masks are tyranny & infringe on their rights. Are you kidding me?!
It's Father's Day & I'm missing my dad more than ever. We didn't agree on everything, but I always knew he loved me. He had strong convictions, but he wasn't arrogant. When I was a teenager, he told me that he disagreed with one of the Oregon politicians on a particular issue. However, he knew the man personally & that he had integrity. Dad said that is more important & he would vote for him. He also said "My view may be wrong."
I'm also entering NBUS.
What a lovely card Greta, I like the soft gray leaves! I wear a mask, it's not a difficult thing to do, I don't understand those who resist it.
ReplyDeleteA SUPER JOB, Greta! LOVE the colors you've used. ;)<3
ReplyDeleteLove your scrape painting, Greta - so pretty with the grey leaves! Awww - great photo of your Dad; sounds like he was a wonderful guy!!
ReplyDeleteLovely post Greta and like you I miss my Dad so much, it's ten years now but still seems like yesterday.
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely swirly background, I tried this out after I saw you use it before but not quite perfected it yet.

Stunning scrape painting Greta. I haven't tried this yet but was intrigued with the technique. Your colours are lovely together and the ghost looking leaves is a nice design element. Great photo of your Dad.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is a lovely new technique. I watched the video and it was so clear and concise. Your card is so pretty with the colors you used. Thanks for sharing this. I love what your dad said about "My view could be wrong". Instead of arguing with someone, we should have that thought in mind too.
ReplyDeleteYou are mastering this technique, Greta! Your card is very pretty! The colors that are arranged in that design really packs a punch, so eye catching! Wonderful leaves, and sentiment, too! Great view that your Dad had regarding respecting other people's choices! If only more could respect one another, wouldn't this world be a better place? A great tribute about your Dad on Father's Day! I'm sure he was a great man!
ReplyDeletelove how you are owning this technique. Such a fab look. I equate masks with seat belts...common sense.
ReplyDeleteI love this card design. Beautiful card and yes, we should wear masks. I know I had forgotten and went to a store without but we stayed away so that we were not within the six foot mark. I had it in my purse too. Such a dummy I am! It is something one has to get used to doing always. Right now no cases in our county.
ReplyDeleteWow Greta - I love the scrape painting technique. Thanks for sharing the link to Karen's tutorial which I watched and I am now heading off to my messy area to have a play. The photo of your Father is beautiful, as is your description of his personality. It takes a brave and honest man to say "My view be wrong".
ReplyDeleteHi Greta! I'm still unpacking and remodeling but made some time to sit down and visit a few wonderful blogs! I love your card and the colors - so pretty. The design looks really cool! Wishing you a great day! HUGS!

Your father looks very dapper and very much a gentlemen, Greta! I can just picture him saying those things and it's clear you learned a lot about integrity and values from him. How blessed you were to have him for a father. Thank you for all the information on this scrape technique. I love your design and colors and I love that you are having so much fun with it! Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Keep safe and sane! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteReminder to watch the video because your cards are intriguing and pretty. I love the sweet story about your Dad and his respecting integrity. I miss my Dad who's been gone now for 39 years.
ReplyDeleteFabulous design Greta, love the story and picture about your dad.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
Love your scrape background and color choices. Your stamped in gray leaves, black frame and stamped birthday are perfectly balanced. TFS your dad's sweet photo and honoring him with your sweet story. BTW...we are social distancing, wearing masks and rarely have to leave our beautiful 35 acres in Southwestern Oregon, gardens, etc. I am happy you are being safe too. Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful,I love the colour choices. Your remembering of your Dad is so poignant and beautiful, he sounds like a man with honour.
