Well, we've joined the rest of the country in the heatwave! It's still way better here, though, since we have low humidity.
Happily, I was able to complete MFT Summer School, so here are my last 2 cards. Unfortunately, I didn't write my post yesterday, so I missed the deadline.
Repetition
I wanted to do something a little different using a sentiment. Plus, I really wanted to turn my cross stitch tag into a card. Usually I don't craft when we go camping, but I did take floss & the die cut tag last trip. Took me a few stitches to remember how to move across the pattern after 20 years of not doing this.
Gotta say, I thoroughly enjoyed it & now I plan to get a larger cross stitch die. I chose the Easter basket MFT pattern because I have 2 packs of floss I got many years ago in a closeout that had the colors I needed. Next I want to do some of the Christmas designs. The repetition requirement was met by stamping in white & embossing in clear the Impression Obsession sentiment 3 times on a strip of brown cardstock. I purposely kept it subtle so it wouldn't detract from the tag. White grosgrain seemed to go with the texture of the stitching & I decided against any embellishments. I'm entering CAS-ual Fridays.
Symmetry
I decided to pull out some MFT dies I haven't used in quite awhile--Spring Wreath & Mini Rolled Roses. I can only go so long without using my felt--haha!
The matching color in the center of the bow (covered with WOS) was made by mixing a blue marker with a tiny bit of a gray marker & I painted it on with a damp brush. I lightly dry embossed the front of the card, added pearls to the Sno Cone felt roses & stamped the sentiment from LJD On the Line in Memento Espresso Truffle. The roses make it somewhat costly to mail, but I do love them! I'm entering Seize the Birthday without the topping. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
Congrats on getting your MFT degree, Greta! Just love your cross-stitched tag; think you're enabling me to get that die! Pretty felt roses too!!

Keep cool my friend, boy was today sure hot!!
ReplyDeleteI simply adore the blue felt roses - a pity the cost a bit more to post, but they are truly lovely. The cross stitched card is gorgeous too. I think I have a few similar things tucked away in my "to do" drawer. Not sure which decade that will happen!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful cards Greta. In particular, your roses card really is a stunner. Glad you had time to participate. I've done very little card making this week, been knitting premmie baby singlets.
ReplyDeleteCross stitching is something I gave up years ago LOL, but your work is so very beautiful. Love your second card with those lovely roses, something else I must get back to, although as you say postage is the bug of doing it. Whatever, these have such lovely work on them making beautiufl cards.
