Semi-retired & a Confetti Garland

Little bit of a letdown when I finished my last shift as a part time employee on Wednesday. 20 years with this company, but most of them were at a different hospital.  Only a couple people said goodbye, but of course, I'm still going to work a day or 2 a month. Hubby was sweet--got me a wonderful retirement card. I don't go back for a month so big plans to start some home projects I've been putting off.

Always fun when PTI MIM is A La Carte.  I actually participated in the majority of the challenges this year, but missed Betsy's MIM #199 Confetti Garlands.  I didn't want to spend a whole day die cutting confetti, so I used PTI Tiny Tags which is a single die.  The tags were sponged with PTI Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, Hawaiian Shores & Ripe Avocado.  Some silver sequins are strung in among the tags.  I stamped an image from PTI Watercolor Wonder across the panel in slightly lighter shades: Hibiscus Burst, Summer Sunrise, Aqua Mist & Simply Chartreuse. The sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday is stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.
I used my new Tim Holtz splatter brush with Distress Stain brushed pewter--subtle but very pretty in person.  I'm also joining in at The PlaygroundSeize the BirthdaySSS MondaySSS Wednesday & Stamping Sensations. Thanks so much for taking time to visit my blog.

  5. Well happy semi-retirement to you, Greta! I left a library after only 18 months of working there and had a similar thing happen even though I'd worked for the Authority for 23 years so I know how you feel. Just put it behind you and enjoy the extra time you now have. Your card is fabulous... So clever and so beautifully made, Jo x

  8. I absolutely LOVE your card and plan on a complete CASE-ing:) Love everything about it, especially how you sponged the tags rather than cut them from colored card stock. Adds more depth and texture! Congrats on your month off as you transition into retirement. Play with your dog and craft all day;)

  9. Whoo hoo, congratulations on semi retirement. I haven't finished the list of things I was going to do when I retired and that was five years ago! I hope you are more disciplined than I am. This card is cute as can be. I love the bright colors - looks like Spring.

  20. Oh really? Your story breaks my heart.
Everyone gets so busy these days and they really don't take the time to do what matters.
Had I been there, you know I would have baked you a cake, gotten some flowers and made you a card for crying out loud!! I hope you were not too disappointed. I know I would be!

Your card is beautiful and colorful!!

  24. This is right up there among my most favorite cards you've ever posted, Greta! It is so delightful in every way!! I always feel like one should expect to grieve the loss of a job, no matter if it was full-time or part-time. If it's a good one, it's a major part of one's routine and people do become dear to us. Still, pretty soon we wonder how we ever work with all the busyness and fun that happens to fill the days! Enjoy! Hugs, Darnell

  40. Gorgeous card, the colourful background and string of tags are fabulous! Congratulations on your retirement (well mostly retired), it is a big change. It's too bad that you didn't get the 'send off' that you deserve but nice that hubby looked after you. I also think it's a great idea to work a couple of days a month, to keep you involved in it, but still have tons of free time. I went from working 60+ hours a week to nothing when I first retired (a long time ago) and eventually started working part-time (which turned into full-time) as it was such a big change. I'm mostly retired now, but still work a little, it's perfect ! I started making cards after retirement... Enjoy your time, Shirleyxx
