I wasn't even working on this at midnight, but I started off by stamping on the wrong side for how the card opened. At least that was easy to fix--just cut off the card front & used it as a panel. The butterfly from PTI Quilled Elegance was stamped in Distress Ink salty ocean. Then I used my water brush to go over the image, as shown by Alexandra. I added a bit of festive berries touching the brush directly to the pad--also learned from Alexandra's post. The sentiment from the same set was stamped with StazOn. I added the little butterflies, embossed them in white & added a touch of the blue ink with my brush since CAS(E) this Sketch provided my layout inspiration.
Next was making the glitter frame for this week's PTI MIM challenge. I used Score tape attaching all 4 pieces without adding glitter since I wanted to use translucent gel medium with my SSS Falling Snow stencil. Of course I should have done that first & then glittered each strip of the frame as I attached it. I was able to fix the adhesive, but didn't think of the fact that you need to use colored glitter with Score tape. I added Stickles & it still looked terrible. Finally cut strips of Elizabeth Craft double sided paper which I attached to white cardstock strips & then added my EC Cool Highlight glitter. This is the neatest stuff! It goes on fairly dull & becomes extremely sparkly & smooth as you burnish it with your finger & it won't rub off. Wish you could see it in real life. Anyway, the card is saved & ready to mail tomorrow to a friend who loves butterflies. I'm also entering the SSS Flickr challenge to use a stencil. Thanks for sticking with me through this long post!
I like the bright blue in your sparkly frame! All of your hard work and repair paid off, your friend will love it!
ReplyDeleteOh my...you finished and this is so so beautiful too. I have had cards where they just never seem to come together with all my mistakes but I never give up either and look at your amazing creation...I love it. I also need to check out the paper you are talking about...I don't mind the mess of glitter at all but it still sounds so nice.
ReplyDeleteI think it is so cool to your success with heat embossing. I always thought it was more trouble than it is worth but you make it look so beautiful. It is a gorgeous card! I am embarrassed to say that I still have unpacked my craft room yet but I am going to try to start working on it this week - that's if I get some presents wrapped first. I hope you had a great weekend!
