Tattered Florals

My blogging friend Sue inspired me to get Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die & some Distress Stains.  Fortunately, both were 1/2 off, so made it easier to justify the purchases--I always find a way--LOL!  You can see the gorgeous card she made HERE.  The stains were in sets & the one I bought includes bundled sage, tumbled glass & victorian velvet.  When the fabric dried I thought the colors had gotten too muddy (added too much water), but went ahead & die cut the flowers anyway & also one from burlap.  I sort of followed Sue's instructions on cutting off petals & gluing the flowers for dimension.  Turned out I had a piece of Basic Grey paper that almost matched & when it was all put together, I actually liked the look of the card.  It's Fall in New Zealand, so figured it'd work for an Easter card to Sue.  However, the price of postage went up so much I can't afford to send it to her!  Hopefully she's pleased with my efforts so far & I will keep working on making these flowers.  I'm also going to add my card to the Tattered Florals Challenge.  The Embossing Arts (out of business) sentiment is stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia.  So glad you used some of your blogging time to stop here.  Love hearing what you think & suggestions are welcome!

  2. Hello Greta
Oh dear, this is just a wonderful card and has my name on it for sure. The tumbled glass blue looks more teal because of your mix of sage; it is muted, grayed-down and dusky in nature. A low key effect with a natural complexity, it generates a warmth and there is also a touch of earthiness that is evident; from the burlap. The flower is gorgeous and you have made my day, by mentioning that I have been of some inspiration to you, but not just to be inspired Greta but to design and create such a delightful card that would bring a smile to anyone face.
I am honoured that you would want to send this to me, but you know what my friend, this morning a most beautiful Green card arrived with Easter Blessings that included die-cuts that I am eager to use on one of my creations, so do not fret that the cost of postage is inhibiting you, I am very happy with the thought, and your substitute is of equal standard, beautiful and much appreciated.
    Thank you so very much.
    Smiles:)
    Sue
