Card by Therese |
One of my college roommates has been divorced a long time. Recently I was delighted to get a "Save the Date" card from her for a summer wedding. I wanted to use those colors as much as I could to send her my congratulations. The MUSE inspiration card this week by Therese gave me a starting point. As you can see, I used the layout, yellow floral background & blossom focal point. My background is made with Penny Black "blissful" stamped in Distress Inks scattered straw & wild honey onto spritzed watercolor paper. The flower is the inside part of the blossom in Penny Black's "to you" clear set. I black embossed it twice, sponged on VersaMagic Turquoise Gem & Aquatic Splash, fussy cut & attached them together with foam tape. The center is accented with gold micro beads & a touch of gold Stickles. I bent the edges up for dimension & mounted it to the card with foam tape. After die-cutting a circle, stamping the sentiment from Flourishes "Taglines" in VersaMagic Gingerbread & wrapping it with white fibers, the top panel is also mounted with foam tape. Kept getting interrupted so took several days to put this together, but I'm happy with the final result & I think she'll like it.
Before I go, have to share a cute picture of my old puppy dog, Keesha. Couldn't figure out where she was--looked throughout the house & then went back to my work table & realized she was sleeping under my chair! It's amazing I hadn't stepped on her when I got up. Hope you have a great weekend & thanks for coming by.

Hello Greta
ReplyDeleteI am so late to comment as I have had Precious over the weekend.
Love this stunning card, the Turquoise flower is to die for.....and the Bg in sunny Yellow is a wonderful accent to add a whole new dimension to the brilliance of this Blue; it is dynamic and dramatic, a wonderful engaging colour expressing exhilaration. There is a undertone of Purple that brings a richness to the focal image, and using the soft twine is a master-stroke, it is so very pleasing to the eye. A most beautiful card.
Smiles:)

ReplyDeleteHi Greta - my creative Muse left me at a loss for last week's MUSE challenge, so I didn't play and haven't had a chance to comment on your card until today. Three things:
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your friend on her upcoming marriage! I,too, was divorced a long time, until - at my 'vintage age' of 51 - I was blessed with a 'second change' to be a bride once again. We've been married 18 months, and each day, I wonder what I did 'right' to meet - and marry - such a charming man. To your friend: much, much happiness!!
Your card to celebrate her momentous news is gorgeous! Perfect take on the Muse Challenge, but just as (or more) important, it's a reflection of what a thoughtful, warm-hearted individual you are! She will add this to her keepsake of treasures, for sure.
Finally - oh my goodness, but Keesha is ADORABLE! As I've mentioned before, I was 'mom' to two mini schnauzers a while back. Not a day passes that I don't think of them! Thank you for sharing Keesha with all of us!
Once again, your posts, your cards and your photos have brigthened my day! Thank you! And if you would - maybe a wee hug for Keesha, from a 'friend up north.'
