Major Transformation
We don't watch auto racing routinely, but the Indy 500 is special. My folks & I were all born in Indy & my grandfather worked at the race when he was young. Growing up, we usually had a picnic on Memorial Day & my dad always listened to the race on the radio. First, though, here's my card.
As most of you probably know, I really enjoy the PTI challenges. It's fun to come up with something using the technique or theme given & most of the time I like the end result. The newest challenge is Transformation Tuesday & it may be my favorite now. Cards I'm not happy with are in my stash as though I might send them. Here's the one I picked to redo this time--a huge card!

Original Card |
There are things I like including the diamond matted tiny tag, leaf images & lots of green. Luckily I was able to save the tiny tag & had just enough of the simply chartreuse cardstock between the squares to cut an additional mat. I wanted to keep the green & white color scheme with a few more shades to make a fresh, lighter card. This will probably go to a male relative with a birthday greeting inside.

New Card |
The inks are Ripe Avocado (sentiment), Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss, Green Parakeet & Limeade Ice. The stamps are Tiny Tags (sentiment stamp & die), Garden Gild & Fancy Foliage. I'm also entering The Snippets Playground (green mat), SSS Wednesday, Stamping Sensations & The Male Room. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
You're on a great streak of new ideas which is good for our older minds, right? Your redo is so much more you, Greta! I probably sent one very similar to card #1 instead of hiding it in the do-over bin!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny what we don't like on our own cards. I love the original card. I love the elements you stamped, the colors and especially the design. I also really like the redo too. It is clean and bright. I am listening to the race as I type here. It is hot and hard on the drivers, cars and fans. It is exciting to hear the announcers on the radio and you get caught up in it. It has been a safe race so far, thank goodness. Enjoy the day.
ReplyDeleteYour makeover is so clean and pretty with the little floral sprigs and the small sentiment in the center is perfect - great do over!!!
ReplyDeleteI love both your cards, so different, but equally lovely, Greta. xx

ReplyDeleteWell, I like both of them Greta. They are fresh and pretty with the Botanical theme; like a fresh Spring day.
ReplyDeleteA lovely transformation! Beautiful stamped background with pretty green color! I forgot about the Indi Race this weekend. I did some visiting and then planted geraniums. Anyways, your card is awesome and would be great for a masculine bday card!
ReplyDeleteLove the transformation. The soft beautiful colours are so soothing. An awesome card
ReplyDeleteNot a colour I use often but a great re make! The little sprigs give the card a lovely botanical feel. Great job and thanks for sharing with us at Stamping Sensations.
ReplyDeleteAren't we so critical of our work? I loved the original and the second and as I'm wearing lime atm, I can say I LOVE the colours.

Hi Greta, Love the redo on the card. Its so delicate and pretty. I am not checking the notify box, so please let me know if I am a no-reply blogger in your email. I have verified my settings to show my email address when I comment.
ReplyDeleteGreta, I LOVE the colors you used on both of these cards - green and white is such a classic, fresh combo and one of my favorites! Love the take on the old card, with the beautiful background stamping and the single focal diamond piece - so very pretty! I was reading your comment about picnics on my blog and I just so wish you a long weekend full of family and hopefully more picnics with loved ones. I fondly remember picnics with my family during my childhood and really want to bring back more of this family tradition. Sending you big hugs dear friend, and thank you so much for all of the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhat great memories for you and the Indy racing x Great transformation and loving the stamping, the greens and that tiny tag...Wonderful card Greta x
ReplyDeleteI really like how you re-vamp your old cards - the original was nice but the revamped one is more dated for today's card maker style... love it and the colors you used... simply wonderful!
