PTI and C&9

I love the new PTI Transformation Tuesday challenge, but almost forgot to finish my card after getting home from camping.  There are plenty of cards in my stash that need to be redone, but this time I wanted to remake one of my favorite cards which I made in May 2016.
Old Card

Ink blending a masked area & stamping a solid image is one of my favorite techniques.  I thought it would be great for a sympathy card.  I used the same basic design as the old card & the same die from Don't Forget to Write.  For the new card I used Soft Stone cardstock & stamped the leaves.
New Card
The masked area is a little wider for the new card & I blended with 2 inks--Spring Rain & Lilac Grace.  I used a different image from Turning a New Leaf & stamped it in Brilliance Starlite Black.  The sentiment from Through the Trees was stamped in the Starlite Black twice to make it a bit darker than the leaves.  I added tiny splatters of the black ink & left off the embellishments.  I'm also entering SSS Wednesday.

As soon as I saw the April challenge at WCMC9, I planned to make a card with my unopened Floral Fill-In Stencils & paper pack.  Yesterday I finally made my card just before the deadline & entered it via IG.  The papers are a large square so you can get 2 cards from one piece.  Here's the card I entered into the challenge using VersaMagic Pixie Dust & Pink Petunia inks.

The centers are covered in Stickles & I used a PPP die to cut the edge.  Discovered that PTI Melon Berry is a perfect match for the Pink Petunia!  The sentiment from HA was stamped in Brilliance Starlite Black & the mat is PTI Smokey Shadow.  I also entered ABNH
Today I finished a card using the rest of the piece.  For this one I inked in DO picked raspberry & used Faber-Castel glass bead paste with the details stencil.
The edge was cut with a SSS die & the sentiment is from C&9 Flourish stamp set.  I'm entering SSS Wednesday.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Back to Making Cards

Warm, sunny days are not the norm for April in our neck of the woods.  Because of that, our favorite campground isn't full until next month.  We got the best water front site even though we called at the last minute.  Unfortunately, my internet connection was very spotty, so I'm hopelessly behind on blog reading & commenting, but I'll be around as soon as I can.  Couldn't wait to make some cards & I started with PTI MIM.  I like to use all PTI stamps & dies for their challenges, so my options were limited.
The background is made with Quilled Elegance & the die cut is Wonderful Words: Hello.  Gotta say, I had no idea how to color the word, so just did it randomly with 3 Distress Markers.  The black frame is PTI Double Ups Rectangles dies.  Pretty hard to read the word, but I like the idea & decided to try again.
For this one I used PTI Peaceful Poinsettia along with Winnie & Walter's Noel Cutaway--much better results.  In fact, I think this is my favorite card using the poinsettia stamp.
Again I used Versafine for the stamping, but this time I colored with Memento markers.  I kind of made a mess of the background panel since my shimmer mist globbed & when I opened the bottle to use it with a brush I spilled it!  Doesn't look too bad in the photo & I wasn't willing to start over.  We'll see if it gets sent, though--haha!  The panel was mounted to a piece of shimmery blue cardstock & I added some pink Nuvo Drops.  The wider word die works better for this technique & I like leaving some unstamped areas.  Actually, I have another card in mind, so you may see this technique again soon.  I'm entering this one for PTI MIM, Rudolph Days, SSS Monday, SSS Wednesday & WAW.

My final card is for SSS Flickr Challenge #96.  I used the wonderful SSS Spring Flowers stamp set colored with Zigs & the sentiment is from SSS Thoughtful Messages.
I spread some Nuvo glitter drops in the flower centers & opened my black Zig to use for the splatters--worked great!  The mat is shimmery cardstock like the last card--just a different shade.  I'm also entering SSS Monday, SSS Wednesday & WAW.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

Please scroll down for my PRS post.

I always look forward to the PTI Blog Hops & this month the inspiration photo is beautiful.  I love the aqua background & lovely pinkish roses along with touches of gold, so that's what I used for my card.

The white panel was die cut with the oval in the Window Works die set--my nod to the shape of the cup opening.  I brushed on some Aqua Mist ink & then inserted the white flourish back into the negative space.  The sentiment is also PTI & is stamped in Aqua Mist.  I backed the window with vellum & attached it over a piece of cardstock inked with the edge of the Aqua Mist cube to give a hint of the texture in the background of the inspiration piece.
The Sweet Life rose & leaves were inked in Delicata Ruby Red & Pink Shimmer, PTI Lemon Tart, Limeade Ice & Green Parakeet.  I added a thin gold mat & the card front is covered with Aqua Mist.  The rose is brushed with a shimmer pen & is mounted with foam tape.  Finished off with glitter Nuvo Drops.  Always lots to see, so enjoy the hop & thanks for stopping by.  I'm also entering HLS Anything Goes with DiesSSS Monday & SSS Wednesday.

PRS Create It Wednesday

It's my day on the Precious Remembrance Shop Blog.  I used the versatile Sketchy Alphabet stamp set along with Fall Colors to make a masculine card.  Leaf images are great to work with all year long.
I'm really loving how Distress Oxides work for stamping & had fun using a new color combo.  You can find all the card details on the PRS Blog.  I hope you'll check it out.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Two Cards for PTI

For some reason, I'm always inspired by the PTI challenges.  I always learn something & most of the time end up with a card I'm happy with.  Lexi's MIM Graffiti Word Art cards are just great, but I must admit to being skeptical that I could come up with anything.  Hate to miss a challenge, so sat down to try with Wonderful Words: Hello stamps & die.  The inks are Melon Berry & Aqua Mist.
I needed to use a heavier hand with my stencilling on the top of the the word, but I think it's OK anyway.  I didn't want to copy Lexi, so used other images from Watercolor Wonder for my background & stamped them in Classic Kraft.  May not be quite right for the genre, but I love the look of adding Nuvo Glaze to the top layer of the word.  The splatters of Melon Berry finished it off.  I'm also entering HLS Anything Goes with Dies, SSS Wednesday (shine from Nuvo Glaze) & Stamplorations Theme.

Next is my entry for PTI Transformation Tuesday--a new challenge I'm really enjoying.  This time I chose a card from 2013 that I knew would never be sent as I just wasn't happy with it.
Old Card From 2013
I'm thinking it was supposed to be for a guy, but this time I wanted to use Rosie Posie for a feminine card.  This is my second card using the color combo of Winter Wisteria, Royal Velvet & Sweet Blush, which I really love.
New Card 2018
I stamped the bloom (original & step 2 Rosie Posie) on a panel of Soft Stone & used my newest PTI frame dies--Double Ups: Rectangles Dies cut from white.  The text strip is Background Basics: Text Style.  Nuvo Glitter Drops embellish the flower center & I decided not to add a sentiment.  I'm also entering Through the Craft Room Door & SSS Wednesday.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Bunny Hop

You may have noticed the Bunny Hop badge in my sidebar.  Gail, one of the gals leading the Card Chain Challenge, is turning 50.  To celebrate she's having a bunny hop with prizes.  I've never been much of a collector--unless you count cardmaking supplies--haha!  However, I do have a bunny collection of home decor, yard ornaments & music boxes.  We even had a real bunny in our front flower bed this week for the first time.  Because of my love for bunny images, I also have quite a few stamps & some dies.  One of the first companies I was introduced to some 20 years ago was Magenta.  Three or four stores near me at that time carried Magenta stamps & this is one of my favorites.

It's actually not that easy to use, though, being large & very detailed.  Good thing I still have my old fashioned stamp positioner so I could stamp multiple times with Versafine Vintage Sepia on the smooth side of wc paper.  The panel was die cut with a smaller AJVD rectangle die which cut off the places on the edge where I couldn't get a good inking.  I did a soft watercolor wash of Distress Ink victorian velvet over the entire image.  Then I added more of the ink over the bunny in the foreground.  I very carefully darkened some of the brown to give more definition & thankfully I didn't ruin it!  I spritzed with a gold shimmer mist, mounted it to gold cardstock & then attached it to a card base covered with a brown panel.
Didn't like any embellishments, so I ended up with a nice, flat note card ready to mail.  I'm also entering Word Art Wednesday.  Beautiful sunny day, so Fritz & I are off on another walk while hubby finishes washing his vehicle.  Thanks so much for stopping by.
Edited to add: Also entering Through the Craft Room Door.

Using Scraps #3

Here's my last card using scraps from This Card & it's my last entry for the Impression Obsession challenge.  This time I used the last big roses scrap (IO Sketched Roses) along with a scrap of the solid cardstock I colored with the same 2 pink Zigs.
The area between the the top 2 & the bottom rose was perfect for a sentiment strip & I used one of the IO Greetings Top Edgers.  I wanted an elegant look to this card, so after stacking the die cuts 3 high I heat embossed over white pigment ink with a very, very old satin embossing powder I used to use all the time--just love that look!  Tried to leave it plain, but in the end white & gold sequins won out--haha!  It was fun & challenging to come up with 3 very different cards using the beautiful left over scraps.  I'll never get tired of the Sketched Roses stamp!  Just scroll down if you want to see the other 3 cards.  I'm also entering DRU, Paru's Cardmaking Challenge & SSS Wednesday.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Using Scraps #2

The Impression Obsession challenge is about to end, so need to post my final 2 cards made with the scraps from my First Card.  For the 3rd card I simple cut 3 thin strips from the smaller scrap of the IO Sketched Roses I embossed & colored with Zigs.
I hunted through my green cardstocks & found one piece left of the color I needed--whew!  It's a beautiful light green textured cardstock that matches the Zig I used for coloring.  The IO sentiment from Anytime Sentiments was heat embossed with the SSS Antique Gold embossing powder--same as I used for the roses.  Finished off by rounding the top corners & adding green Nuvo drops.  The drops look like a darker shade of the same green in person--not yellowy like the photo.  I'm also entering SSS Wednesday.  I'll be back soon with the last card.  Thanks so much for stopping by.
