I haven't routinely played at Mojo Monday, but I really like the current sketch. This is the last challenge, as Julee needs more time with her kids. I was determined to make a card using my neglected Verve goodies & some printed paper.
Simple card that took me hours, but I'm so happy with the end result. The papers are MME Flair collection, the flowers are Verve New Beginnings & the sentiment is Verve Simply Amazing.
I added silver foil to the top layer of the die cut word & red Stickles to the Aqua Mist & Pale Peony flower centers. I cut 2 strips of gray textured cardstock to tie in with the Brilliance Starlite Black I used to stamp the sentiment. The center panel is stacked with a couple layers of cardstock--not quite as high as adding foam. I'm also entering SSS Monday & Word Art Wednesday.
There are always so many options for the PTI CAWU challenges during release week, but it was an easy decision to case Nichole's Day 2 card with the blended background behind the die cut panel. I love this release, but have got to use what I bought in my last order & that includes the wonderful striped die in Mix & Mat Flourishes.
Don't laugh too hard--gotta tell you what I did. Last night I carefully masked the front of a white card so my blending wouldn't go clear to the edge. This morning when I sat down to put the die cut panel on top, I realized the order of the inks (Hibiscus Burst, Terracotta Tile, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise) was upside down from what I had wanted. I could have just cut off the front of the card & attached it the right way to another card, but oh no--then I started thinking & debating about other changes! Finally, I did get the card put together & actually I like my final version better with adding the Summer Sunrise mat & Glitter Dust for a beautiful, soft sparkle.
The wooden embellishments are Studio Calico--fun for a change instead of sequins or gems. I'm also entering Seize the Birthday, SSS Monday & Word Art Wednesday. Thanks so much for taking time to visit my blog.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards again, I really like the lay-out of the top one. Thanks for your visit to my blog and your kind words. Actually my whimsical girl journal page has words but they are very small ...written just below the whimsical houses. You are right I wrote... 'home is where my heart is' :):):) I hope you are doing well, Shirleyxx
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty combination of the colors in your pattern paper. I love the soft little flowers and the beautiful silver foiled awesome. Sometimes our accidents turn out to be a fun, happy card like your second one. The colors are so bright and it is still rainbow order, just from bottom to top. You have heard that expression "turn your world upside down" and that's what you did!

ReplyDeleteYour so funny, and I bet nobody would have noticed! They are gorgeous Greta!!! Hugs
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely cards Greta - I agree sometimes the simple looking ones take the longest. I especially love the ombre background of the green card and I did have a chuckle about the "whoopsie" on second one. But you turned it into a stunning card - so vibrant and cheery. Now I'm off to you tube to find out how to foil a die cut; always learn something new here on your blog. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI love your cards, Greta.

Haven't used all my stuff from the past two orders, but I know I'll cave and order again tonight...they have me hook, line, & sinker!! :0)

These are such absolutely lovely creations and I have to give you huge kudos for plowing through all of that trauma to get the colors and stripes just right! I love how the first card has a blend of beautiful lines and flowy script and the color palette for the second card is exquisite. This was a joy to see and to read about!
