Talk Like a Pirate Day

Happy September!  Time for a new challenge at Words 2 Scrap By.  Talk Like a Pirate Day is Sept. 19, so we want you to make a project inspired by one of these pirate expressions:
Ahoy, Matey!
Arrrr!
Blimey!
Yo Ho Ho!
When I think pirates, I think sailing ships.  I bought this Magenta stamp years ago since hubby loves boats.  I stamped it with Versamark & then rubbed on 3 different blue Pan Pastels I bought months ago & hadn't yet tried.  They give a lovely sheen in person.
The card front was dry embossed with a folder that gives an impression of waves, if you have a good imagination, and a blue Copic made the little metal squares match.  Hope you'll check out the work of my talented teammates & join in the fun this month. There's an adorable Paper Smooches stamp set going to the winner! Thanks so much for stopping by.

PTI SAF Card #3

LaurieLaurie-recipe
My final card for PTI SAF combines the Patterns Challenge from Laurie, the Pins & Needles Challenge using Dawn's embossed stitches technique & the Runway Inspired Challenge from Laurie.  I used Memento Love Letter & PTI inks Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse & Ripe Avocado for the smooshing technique to color the background panel. The frames from PTI Framed Out #1 were watercolored with Berry Sorbet & white embossed with a Hot Off the Press stitches stamp I'd never opened. The leaves are PTI Twig Wreath stamped in Simply Chartreuse. I love the fonts & message in the sentiment stamp from Framed Out #1 which I stamped in Berry Sorbet.
The panel is matted with Berry Sorbet cardstock & embellished with 3 tiny pearls.  Lots of inspiration in the SAF challenges which I'll be using over & over. Thanks for your visit.

PTI SAF Card #2

Betsy-recipeSure glad PTI SAF lasts 3 days, so I was able to finish a couple more cards.  This one is for the Runway Inspired Challenge from Betsy Veldman.  The dress is adorable & I love the 3 blue inks which I happen to have: Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky & Enchanted Evening.  Jennifer McGuire inspired me, although I didn't use Perfect Pearls.  Instead, after masking & inking, I dry embossed & spritzed the entire panel with Tattered Angels Pearl.
The leaves are die cut & heat embossed using PTI Turning a New Leaf & PTI heavy weight vellum & added a PTI Tiny Tag. Love this ribbon--wish I'd bought more than 1 yard.  I'm also entering the challenge at SSS Monday to use 3 ink colors.  I'll be back shortly with my last SAF card.  Thanks for stopping by.

Wishing You Well

Betsy Veldman has the neatest video this week for PTI MIM.  I loved her card using Die Cut Kissing during the last release & was so happy when she used the technique for MIM.  My only PTI intricate die is Garden Gild, so that's what I used. Makes for kind of artsy Friendly Flower images, I think. My PTI inks are Autumn Rose, Scarlet Jewel, Spring Moss & Simply Chartreuse. I trimmed a bit of the die cut to use in the upper corner & added some splatters. 3 lite purple Dew Drops embellish the flower because I like how the image shows through.
The sentiment is from PTI Framed Out #1 & had never been used. Really fun technique--you might want to check it out if you haven't. I'm also entering Anything Goes at SSS Wednesday. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.Simon Wednesday Challenge Blog

Slow Start!

I took today off as soon as the date for PTI SAF was announced.  For some reason I just couldn't get started & of course, there were some interruptions.  I'll probably accomplish more tomorrow than today & I work tomorrow--LOL! Figure I may as well post the 2 projects I've done so far.
6-accessories-challenge
Didn't buy a bag of large sticks, but hubby eats a popsicle every day so I recycled one of the sticks to try out the bangle technique for the Accessories Challenge . What a fun project & now I'd like to make a big one.  I used gold Lumiere paint which is absolutely gorgeous in person.  Then I heat embossed the little heart from PTI Heart 2 Heart #2 with Zing Grapefruit ep & added tiny black gems.
4-patterns-challenge5-threads-challengeLove all the sketches for the Patterns Challenge & it really helped me to have the dimensions.  I also immediately was drawn to the braided twine flowers for the Threads Challenge, so combined the two using Nicole's sketch.
Nichole-2I used the smallest Snowflake Flurries die for the flower base & leaves from Friendly Flowers stamped in Spring Moss.  The sentiment from Take 3 Summer is stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa on a Vintage Cream panel.  A strip of Spring Moss cardstock was stamped with a dot from Harvest Berries in matching ink.
Hope you've had a great day & I'll be catching up on blogs soon. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Edited to add: Entering the challenge at SSS Wednesday.

PTI SAF 2015 Friday Night Fashion Show

Show-us-your-shirt

My mom was actually a sportswear model at Ayres Dept Store in Indianapolis when she was 17 years old.  I did not follow in her footsteps (Big HaHa!) but I did have a ball altering my white tank top & posing for hubby to take a picture. This top (which somehow became a size smaller than when I bought it--couldn't be I changed!) was in a drawer, forgotten. Couldn't justify spending money on a white t-shirt, so hopefully this qualifies.
Over 10 years ago I bought 7 bottles of gorgeous Lumiere paints after taking a class where we altered ivory colored tote bags.  Some of the people created masterpieces that could have been sold.  I do enjoy using mine to carry stamping magazines & always planned to try another one.  Love the old butterfly stamp--need to dig it out & use it!  I've occasionally used the paints on paper, but this week was the first time on fabric since the class.
I began by making a stencil (recycled glossy coated advertising) with the large PTI Turning a New Leaf die. Cardboard from a cereal box was put inside the tank, the stencil was taped down & I sponged on the paint. Had to do a tiny bit of masking for the second image after playing around on paper to figure out what I wanted. Surprisingly, the paint didn't even go through to the inside.
The felt flowers are done with 2 dies from PTI Gilded Garden.  Another first--I sewed seed beads in the flower centers.  It was easy once I finally got my needle threaded & realized you don't string them together, but stitch each one.  Very simple design, but gave me such a feeling of accomplishment when I finished it!  Truly the little things can bring joy when you least expect it.   I know there are lots of amazing shirts to see in the Friday Night Fashion Show & I appreciate you taking time to check out mine. Even if you're not participating, don't miss the video the PTI Team did for tonight--it's so, so fun!
Looking forward to tomorrow's activities, but would be more fun to do it with friends.  Then again, I can stay in my PJs if I want! Edited to add: I'm entering my shirt in the Anything Goes challenge at SSS Wednesday.

More Thank You Cards

Hubby needed a couple more cards so I used another MFT background set--this one is Diamonds & Dots Border.  Not sure why my Kaleidacolor pads are neglected until Fall every year--they are beautiful, don't you think?  These 2 are Luau & Autumn Leaves which I stamped on ivory cardstock.  The kraft cards are stamped & clear embossed with the same image. As you can see, I stamped one so the colored panel lined up & one that makes it off-set.  The sentiment from MFT On The Line is stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa. Simple design, but I like the look & no extra postage needed!  I'm entering the challenges at The Kraft JournalSSS Wednesday & SSS Work It Wednesday. I always appreciate your taking time to visit my blog.

Flurry of Fun

As most of you know, I love making Christmas cards!  I recently figured out how to use my metal shim so was able to die cut the beautiful Memory Box snowflake border using this lovely DCWV glitter paper. Velvet goes with winter & I had this little piece of white ribbon just the size I needed. Love the A Muse Studio sentiment which I stamped in Memento Gray Flannel.  I used a red Copic to color the tiny pearls & added dots of Stickles Frosted Lace.  Luckily my card works for several challenges: Memory Box Cool Thoughts for Warm Days, SSS Wednesday Anything Goes,  Die Cut Divas Favorite Holiday, August Rudolph Days Anything Christmas, Pixies Snippets Playground Use Snippets & Inkspirational Word Prompt Melt. Thanks for taking time to stop by.
Edited to add: Thanks to Asha I'm entering at CASE-ing Christmas since I unknowingly cased DT member, Steph.

Papertrey August Blog Hop Challenge--Missed the Deadline

August Blog Hop InspirationHurrah--it's PTI Blog Hop Day! Unfortunately, I forgot the deadline & missed it.  My inspiration came from the row of beautifully colored wool in the photo.  I used PTI Watercolor Wonder & stamped the image full strength & second generation with PTI Autumn Rose, Hibiscus Burst, Orange Zest & Summer Sunrise.  I just got the PTI cardstock sampler so used Autumn Rose for the background strip & the PTI Wonderful Words: Hello die cut.  I stacked 4 of the die cuts with the top one Autumn Rose clear embossed & attached so there was a slight white shadow.

The sentiment from Wonderful Words: Hello was stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa. Since the white strip was a scrap, I'll enter at Pixies Snippets Playground.  I'm also entering the Pretty Patterns challenge at CAS-ual Fridays. Thanks so much for stopping by.

For My Sis

We got some great news today--the doctor had prepared us to expect that hubby would again need treatment, but the repeat test is negative! What a great way to start the week!
I was also finally able to get a card made for Freshly Made Sketches 200th challenge--just in the nick of time.  My sister loves butterflies & the color blue. Right now she could use a hug, so I hope this brightens her day.  Big surprise--I again used my self-adhesive Fun Foam! This time the Memory Box butterfly die cut was covered with Elizabeth Craft glitter.  That is the most amazing glitter which burnishes to an incredible smooth sparkle (can't appreciate it unless you see it in person) & then doesn't rub off. The background is done with 3 distress inks: salty ocean, mermaid lagoon & peacock feathers. If you have trouble with smooshing, try Betsy Veldman's technique which is to just press the paper into the spritzed inks & pick it up--don't move the paper through the inks.  The stenciling is done with Gesso & Tim Holtz Bubble stencil.
I layered trim over lace & added tiny pearls.  The butterfly is layered over another one cut from vellum & I used my favorite Heidi Swapp stickers for the words.  Edited to add: My 3rd entry for the Great Outdoors challenge at Dies R Us & the Butterflies challenge at The Mixed Media Card Challenge. Thanks so much for using some of your computer time to visit my blog.

For Hubby

CCCB Theme Photo
Our anniversary is almost here & I thought the design of using only one corner might work good for a male card.  So here's my entry for City Crafter Challenge Blog using an old striped paper I really love with Penny Black heart shaped leaves.  I attached the paper leaves to brown cardstock just offset.  The same brown cardstock is cut with the Penny Black word die. I clear embossed it to make it stand out & mounted it with foam tape.
First time I opened the package of little red alphabet stickers--just what I needed here. The stitched rectangle die is Lil' Inkers. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Felt Poinsettia

I intended to combine the challenges at Merry Monday & City Crafter Challenge Blog, but my card really needed the Penny Black die cut sentiment.  The MFT poinsettia die is cut from felt & cardstock for stability. I stamped the leaves with an Inkadinkado flourish & splattered white paint on the flower.  Fun to use the Dew Drops I won at Pixie's Snippets Playground.  Used some heavier twine which I think goes well with the felt & some red splatters.  This has to go in the not flat stack, but I don't mind.  I'm also entering at Pixies Snippets Playground.  Now to try again for a card to enter at CCCB!  Thanks for stopping by.
