Soft Colors for a Birthday Card

My Mini Cards
I played along with Martha's Scramble at the Hero Arts Flickr Group today.  She had us make 2 miniature cards 1 1/2" x 4 1/4".  That may sound easy, but I found it very challenging. I need practice getting enough interest into such a small space, so I cut one apart & made it into a regular size card.  All my stamps are Hero Arts & the inks are VersaMagic with Memento for the sentiment.
I matted the original piece with a blue scrap & added a soft green pearl to the bow. A piece of vellum was dry embossed & attached to the card front before the panel was popped up.
Final touch was this fun blue & green trim I've had a long time. I'm also entering the anything goes category at Hero Arts & Pixies Snippets Playground. Thanks for stopping by. Sunshine today & hubby even mowed the lawn. Enjoy your weekend.
Edited to add: Here's the link to the Colour Me! challenge I accidentally deleted when editing my post.

  1. That would be hard to do! Good for you to make two...

I like the tall one and the one you remade looks fantastic!

The colours of that one are lovely and I love the fiber at the top.

  2. That size does sound like a challenge Greta but you sure rose to the task, these are PRETTY!! I like the redo too. Your twine/trim reminds me of some my SIL gave me years ago. She was in to all of the fuzzy fibers before twine became the rage!

  7. Very pretty on both cards. I'm always intrigued with the way you use vellum. Liked the sunshine-y colors on the fronds tiny card too. I think you created a lot of interest on both these minatures. Way to go! TFS & Hugs

  9. Greta, wonderful that you "up-cycled" your scrapling. I love the addition of colors and more texture, it make a wonderful standard sized card as well as the cute scrapling it was born as. That was a tough scramble, that canvas size definitely takes some getting used to.

  10. What a cool idea! I love how you cut apart your card to make another one. That's a great use for a small panel like that. Seriously--your hubby *mowed*?!? We still can't see the grass around here--it's still buried under a couple of feet of snow (built up from who knows how many different winter storms). I'm jealous!!
