Blessing from God

Pixies Crafty Workshop

Click here for my DeNami Blog Hop card.

Down to the wire for the ODBD L-O-V-E recipe challenge.  I checked Dynamic Duos & found one of my favorite color combos: light green & soft pink.  Now I had the needed inspiration to create a card I really love.  It will be perfect for my college roommate who lives in the Midwest.  We've only seen each other a few times over the past 40 years, but I was overjoyed to get a lovely letter from her this past Christmas.  All the papers are snippets, so I'm also entering Pixies Snippets Playground.
The stamps are ODBD Each Minute & Sweet William small.  The leaves are cut with a Penny Black die. I'm down to a small piece of this beautiful pink shimmer paper which was a great match for the flowers embossed on vellum using VersaMagic Pink Petunia. The vellum was attached over white cardstock & Liquid Pearls are added to the centers. Barely able to use the Cuttlebug embossing folder at the angle I wanted, but was able to stop just before it would have ruined the edge of the paper.  Gotta find more of this beautiful ribbon--only had a yard & it's almost gone now.
L--layers, leaves O--ovals V--vellum E--embossing
Temps are above freezing, but socked in with no sun.  It's a good thing since we don't want 13 inches of snow to melt too quickly.  Had a wonderful treat this morning when I spotted a pair of Varied Thrush at the feeder.  Last time I had noted one was in 2008! The female flew away, but I managed to snap a picture of the male while he was in our apple tree (that's ice on the branches).  Hope you've had something nice happen today & thanks so much for stopping by.
Edited to Add: also entering Die Cut Divas, thanks to Dawn's reminder.

  5. Beautiful card Greta and a beautiful sentiment!! I think your friend will see the love you put into this one. I don't like ice to hang around on the trees and plants too long, but it sure is pretty!

  9. Wow Greta, what a beautiful card.As a pink girlies it jumped right out at me - perfectly designed and made. I know what you mean when you get to the end of a favourite paper/card or ribbon - it then becomes a mission to find the same one again :)

Please don't fret about sending anything for the snippets toy box - there is absolutely no expectation of that. The way I work it usually is when I find a good deal on something then I buy two :) That keeps the toy box going fine!

    Hugs, Di xx

  12. Beautiful card, Greta! I love how the dry embossing on the upper left side helps to frame the die cut and balances the cluster of flowers.

Thank you for my gorgeous valentine!! I love the layered die cuts. And Elisia immediately asked if I had the dies so she could recreate your card.

I am sure that your longtime friend will love it as well :-) Thanks for sharing with us at the Dynamic Duos and also for posting your photo of the Varied Thrush- we do not have this species on the East Coast and it was a delight to see someone else that likes to watch birds :-)

  22. Two beauties in this post! Love that luscious pink card! The bit of embossing is subtle but adds so much and the vellum flowers are delicate and beautiful! What a pretty bird! Isn't the snow and ice pretty? As long as we're safe and warm, it adds so much beauty to a dreary season!

  25. Greta, I've fallen behind - again - in my comments, but I'm here now, adding my applause to the others! The shades of pink you've selected, and the images - flowers, embossing, frame - are complement the sentiment beautifully. And the sentiment itself: yes! Every minute IS a gift - and I'm so glad that your friendship has been added to those minutes! The photo of the rarely seen bird in your backyard is another gift! Wow...and the ice your trees...eek!! Off to see what's next...Hugs~c

This is so deserving of the shout out from Dynamic Duos, Great, congratulations!! I hope you had a fun time seeing the puppy babies! Happy Valentine's Day! Hugs, Darnell
