My weekend to work, but the good thing is we have a new challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge! Our theme is white on white, but you can use color on the image if you want. I stuck to all white using texture for interest. I started with a textured card base & attached a panel that was dry embossed with an old & seldom used Cuttlebug folder. The PB die cut butterfly was stamped with PB Paisley Outline, heat embossed & covered with Wink of Stella. In addition the butterfly was backed with one cut from vellum, sequins & tiny pearls were attached to the body & it's layered over white cotton floss. The sentiment from the PB friendship set was stamped in Brilliance Starlite Black. Thank you all for your support & friendship--truly a blessing. I'm so honored to have been a Stamplorations Top Pick in April giving me this opportunity to Guest Design. The theme for June is Stamps & Washi--a no-brainer for some of you. However, I'm one of those people with a Washi collection that is seldom used, so this was indeed a challenge for me!
I kept things pretty simple by using this narrow, inexpensive K&Co tape as a frame for the beautiful Stamplorations rose. Black & white can be elegant & striking & works great for those of us who are "coloring challenged"--LOL! The rose is covered with silver Wink of Stella, giving a lovely glimmer. Lace is one of my favorite embellishments, so I enjoyed working a little piece into my design. Finished off with black enamel dots. I love receiving & sending cards that aren't expected, so this one is headed to surprise a blogging friend. Thank you, Stamplorations, for allowing me to join your talented DT this month!

Five sketches for Viva la Verve in May & I finally finished one card in the nick of time using the week 3 sketch & the SSS Flickr challenge summer theme. I used yellow, neon green, neon purple & flowers from the inspiration graphic. The panel is done with embossing paste & the SSS Moroccan Stencil. The embossing powders are by Zing. The flowers are SSS Bella Bloom with yellow Stickles covering the centers. Love this cheery sentiment from SSS Warm Wishes. Ended up with a pretty flat card & will send this off to a blogging friend.

Oh my goodness--I forgot the Impression Obsession challenge, Ocean Breezes, was about to close! I had my card done days ago except for adding the sailor knots & attaching it to the card. The quote is an IO stamp (C5159) & certainly is fitting when you think of the ocean. I don't have ocean themed stamps so I used Distress Inks frayed burlap, salty ocean & scattered straw to represent sand, sea & sun. The panel is covered with shimmer mist giving a gorgeous shine & reminding me of the sparkle you see on the sand & sea when the sun is shining. I pierced a simple border for interest. My sister loves going to the beach, so this will probably go to her. Thanks so much for stopping by.
I think there's a great opportunity in the US for an entrepreneur as we sure need a reasonably priced way to get our handmade cards delivered--LOL! Some costs have gone up again, so I'm more determined than ever to make flatter Christmas cards. That brings me to my last minute entry for the One Layer Christmas Card Challenge--optional twist of stars. This wasn't my first idea, but I'm happy with how this came out. I used a Heidi Swapp stencil for the gold embossed stars. The Hero Arts sentiment is black embossed & the splatters are made with gold shimmer mist & black dye ink. For a bit of texture & interest I scored a frame & voila--one more card ready to mail! I'm also entering Anything Goes at SSS Wed. Thanks so much for taking time to visit my blog.
I really had fun making my card for the One Layer Christmas Card Challenge using Penny Black stamps & the Mojo Monday sketch. The card is made from watercolor paper since I began with the smooching technique. Distress Inks festive berries & worn lipstick were patted onto the packaging from my Fiskars stamp press & spritzed with water. Then I pressed the card front into the mixture until I was happy with the look. I added some gold splatters & then stamped the poinsettia background in festive berries & overstamped in Delicata Golden Glitz. A Spellbinder circle was used to cut out the corner & then I partially embossed the card front with a Cuttlebug swirls folder & inked the edges. The raised areas were lightly sponged with festive berries. The sentiment was heat embossed & Golden Glitz was sponged with the die in place. Finished off with the little stickers for some bling which is flat for mailing--yah! My watercolor background lets me enter the PPP Watercolor Blog Hop & hopefully my flat bling & gold shimmery ink work for Merry Monday. Very hot here for the first week of June--better go water my potted plants. Hope you're enjoying the weekend.
