Transformed BD Card

Another last minute entry--this time for PTI Transformation Tuesday.  I'm having such fun picking cards to redo.  Some weeks I choose a card I didn't like, but this week I picked a card I like.
Old Card
I need a birthday card for a young female relative & wanted to use the hexagon coverplate for a more modern look.  It's been awhile since I made a smooshed Distress Ink background, so I picked 3 colors I think she'd like: fired brick, dusty concord & salty ocean.
New Card
To be honest, the panel didn't thrill me.  Before starting over I put the die cut over the panel & really liked it--yah!  The panel was sprayed with silver Glitter Dust to make it a bit more festive.  The hexagon die cut was stacked 2 high.  I stamped the sentiment from Happy Hexagons on a scrap of the same watercolor paper, sponged lightly with salty ocean, matted it with black cardstock & attached it with foam tape.  My black Nuvo Drops plugged up, so instead I went back to black Pico Embellisher which worked great!  Just tied on some black cord to finish it up.  I'm also entering CAS-ual Fridays, HLS Watercolor challenge, SSS Monday & SSS Wednesday.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Also entering Calling All Sistahs since they left me a comment on my IG post saying this would qualify.  I hadn't realized a BD sentiment was OK for the challenge.

  20. I love your modern updated CASE of yourself, Greta! I think the panel turned out gorgeous, but agree that the black cover really brought it to another level! And IRL, I'll bet it is even more stunning with the shimmer! She will love it!! Hugs, Darnell
