'Tis the Season

We've had an eventful week.  Fritz was diagnosed with pancreatitis--fortunately not severe.  He seems to be more like his old self & no vomiting, so that's a relief. May be on prescription food the rest of his life, so I'm looking for a job--just kidding!  Small price to pay to have a healthy puppy dog. Hubby located a man in his 90s who was on his dad's ship in WWII.  They didn't know each other, but hubby is going to meet him soon. Turns out he lives near a cousin, so hubby will see her as well. Fritz & I will hold down the fort & hopefully I'll get a lot done.  Still no laptop, but I plan to get it today one way or the other! Yesterday we actually had a few hours of rain--such a relief.
It'd be crazy not to get a card done for EH Mix it Up with Avery Elle--$50 gc is the prize!
I stamped AE Winter Wreath & the sentiment in Brilliance Pearlescent Ivy & covered the berries in Stickles Christmas Red.
EH Leaping Deer is die cut from textured, shimmery dark beige cardstock & layered 3 high. Couldn't resist a few green splatters.  I'm also entering Christmas Card Challenges, Merry Monday Summer Link Up (#244 Use a Wreath), Penny Black & More & Word Art Wednesday. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.  I will catch up with you as soon as possible.

  2. Posted that too quickly Greta as meant to say Holly was also diagnosed with the same a few weeks back, her Pancreas levels were over 3,000 so more than three time higher than they should be so like Fritz is's a whole change of diet and hope he settles to the change. She is due to be re-tested next week so keeping our fingers crossed but she certainly seems much better and got over her op well for Pyometra diagnosed at the same time. So much for a relative youngster.

  3. Hope Fritz is over the worst now. I know the feeling. When I had all the cats I always said I went to work to keep them in the style they were accustomed to. Hugs Mrs A.

  12. Poor little Fritz - glad to hear he is on the mend. One of our Cavaliers had that many years ago; he made a complete recovery and never had pancreatitis again. I hope the same is true for you furry friend. Love the double wreath and leaping deer, so festive. Nicely photographed too with the holly leaves scattered around.

  15. I love your pretty Christmas card, Greta! I can't even think about how fast the year is flying by, ugh! I saw a few fall cards in Blogland today and I'm like, "NO! I want to make more beachy summer cards for a while!" Sigh. I guess if we're going to do fall cards though, it has to be now because soon it will be 'backs to the wall' all out Christmas creations. I hope Fritz is feeling well now with the food and the medicine and that he stays that way! Glad to hear you got some much-needed rain!! Hugs, Darnell

  17. I'm so happy Fritz is on the mend. Having just gone through the same thing, I know how hard it is to see them sick and not know for sure what's wrong. Also felt the hit the budget takes! Your card is a great Christmas card. I can't wait to start Halloween cards but have to finish the birthday cards first. Then I will start Christmas cards. Hope your computer comes home soon.

  18. Beautiful card, I really like the reindeer. Good that your sweet Fritz is doing well. I know all about special foods (and the cost) as our last kitty needed special food. But of course we do all we can to keep our fur babies feeling good. Sadly we no longer have Archie with us, he went to kitty heaven in March. This is the first time in 24 years that we've been 'pet free' and I'm missing having them so much. I love both cats and dogs, but have only been owned by cats. I feel that I've missed something by not having a dog with live us as well. Maybe some day.. some how... but now is not the time. Take care, Shirleyxx

  25. Oh I wish I were closer to you ... I reckon you could do with a coffee and a hug. One of my dogs got sick like that and I cried to see her in pain. I do hope that Fritz gets well soon. At least you have more chance of him eating the expensive food than I did with my cat! Heck I've £40 worth left that he wont touch!
Your card is bautiful and such a lovely design!
I hope hubby has fun... what a lot he'll have to talk about! My dad was on the HMS Sheffield and a a few other ships that did the Atlantic run during WW11

  26. What a nice Nordic vibe to your card. Poor Fritz! But I hear diet can make things right for that. Hubby and I joke that someday we'll have an average cat without expensive health issues as we've lived with diabetes, irritable bowel, and now severe allergies. I'm not holding my breath but someday we'll have an average cat. Maybe. Probably it will be the boringest cat ever. LOL!

  29. Poor Fritz; good to know that he's on the mend and receiving plenty of TLC from his mom and dad! How marvelous that your husband met someone who knew his dad; I can imagine they had a great visit, sharing stories. Your card: simply gorgeous! You've set my Christmas spirit soaring with your prancing deer and wreaths....
