I started this card for the last SSS Flickr challenge, but wasn't able to finish it in time. I knew it had to be finished today so it would make it across the world. This is going to a friend whose creations are totally the opposite of CAS & I wanted to use some of her inspiration. I began by stamping Penny Black Music Background in Distress Ink antique linen. Then I used my new SSS stamp set, Warm Wishes, stamping 2 of the floral images with Distress Ink bundled sage--those on the bottom are second generation stamping. I also over-stamped the tall flowers with Delicata Golden Glitz. The panel was dry embossed & cut with the Spellbinder die. I sponged the edges with Distress Ink antique linen & swiped on some Distress Stain tarnished brass & Distress Paint picket fence. I sponged the bundled sage on white cardstock & die cut MFT flowers which are also swiped with tarnished brass. The MFT leaves are sponged with antique linen which is also used to stamp the PB Music Background & I swiped on some tarnished brass. The little tag & sentiment are PTI. I used PTI canvas/linen Impression Plate on the kraft card, added a strip of burlap & attached the panel. I used a lot of my old products along with the new SSS stamp set, so I'm entering the SSS Monday challenge. My burlap strip lets me enter at City Crafter Challenge Blog & some scraps were used so I'm also joining in at Pixies Snippets Playground. Since it's a birthday card, I'll enter Seize the Birthday.
Edited to add: also entering at SSS Wednesday since I used my new SSS stamp set for the first time.
Monday is the College National Football Championship game & we're so excited our University of Oregon Ducks are playing! The other team is Ohio State. My blogging friend, Maria, is an Ohio State fan, so we have a little wager going--just for fun. The one whose team looses has to send something to the other person, including, of course, a handmade card! Hopefully the Ducks won't let me down--LOL! Thanks for your visit & enjoy the weekend.
Love the card. It looks deceptively simple. The burlap really sets this card off. Great coloring and design. Excellent. - Jim
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Greta - as Jim says, the burlap adds that final touch beautifully!

beautifully done, greta... you have definitely captured a lot of the recipient's inspiration! all the stamp layering and embossing really give the piece a wonderful depth!
ReplyDeleteLove the texture and layers in this one Greta, so pretty!! I'm afraid I have to side with your friend Maria on the game. Being an Ohio girl myself it's going to be OSU all the way ~ HANG ON SLOOPY...SLOOPY HANG ON!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is 7$ good luck to the ducks!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a gorgeous card with the burlap, Greta! And, I saw ditto to what Lisa said...lol!:-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card Greta! I am sure your friend will love it. I'll be watching the game Monday too...but since hubs family is from Ohio...it will be go Buckeyes! Though I did root for the Ducks in the last round!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful card Greta and what a fabulous idea for a wager on the game. I am not a football fan at all but I will cheer on your Ducks!
ReplyDeleteLove the card, Greta!
ReplyDeleteGO BUCKEYES! :*)
LOVE when you play around with rustic element, Greta. The results are always fantastic, as with this stunning example!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Greta, sure to make your 'non-CAS' friend smile brightly. The burlap: an eye-catching special touch, indeed! Hope your team wins; then again, it appears that your wager is a win-win no matter what the outcome! A goody and a card - either given or received - now that's my kind of wagering!

Very pretty card and I love the textured panel of burlap behind the image! Thank you for sharing your project and for joining us over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the soft spring like colors & the double stamping technique on these beautiful flowers. Just love that Delicata Gold (Silver is pretty too). Really liked the burlap texture with the florals...a very attractive combination. Hope your experience with changing insurance goes smoothly. Happy Sunday, hope you are staying cozy inside, TFS.
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty Greta! Love the piece of burlap and fancy blossom! Thanks for joining along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge!
ReplyDeleteI wish the ducks would wear the team colors rather than the white and silver tomorrow. That shouldn't matter, but... well, we'll see. I love this card. Had you not told me, I would have thought your background was printed card stock... it looks really good!
ReplyDeleteLovely use of burlap and I love your centerpiece too. The floral/botanical print adds a lovely touch to your card. Thanks for joining us at CCCB this week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful card....Greta! Love your burlap...what a nice touch! Good luck on your little wager!! I'm a Noles fan! 😉
ReplyDeleteGot caught up in the football comment and forgot to thank you for playing with us at Seize the Birthday.
ReplyDeleteI love how you made your background with the softest of colors. Just beautiful. The addition of burlap makes a stunning card. I have heard so much about your Ducks on the news. I'll be checking in on the game Monday night and will root for them.
ReplyDeleteHi Greta ... This is such a lovely card!! Thanks so much for joining us this week at CCCB!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and I love the burlap background

ReplyDeleteAnother beauty Greta! Wow~
ReplyDeleteThis is very pretty. The stamping looks great! Thanks so much for playing along with the Something New Challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome card! You do the whatever-is-the-opposite-of-CAS very well!
ReplyDeleteAh ha! So there are SSS stamps that stamp well. Actually I knew that as I have another set somewhere that I used a lot without any problem. I think that one set is just a lemon. It even looks kind of funny, like full of tiny air bubbles or something. I've decided to pass it on to someone else and let it be their problem. Good to be reminded that not all SSS stamps are bad since they have some great ones out there.
ReplyDeleteHi, Greta!
ReplyDeleteWOW, what a lovely card! Love the collage stamping, burlap, tiny tag, and flower!
Well done!
Wow! what a fabulous panel! I love the use of burlap, it adds so much of interest to the design :)
ReplyDeleteThat panel is just collage stamping at its finest! Love the burlap too :)
