Birthday Card for a Guy
My brother-in-law is about to have a birthday. He loves the outdoors, so thought I'd use this beautiful stamp by ODBD for his card this year. Found the perfect gift for him when we were at the coast--a really neat fish windsock! The current ODBD challenge is sponging or stencils. As you can see, I went back to one of my favorite techniques--emboss resist. The image was black embossed & then I sponged on Distress Ink salty ocean, mowed lawn & pumice stone, using the new mini tool that I bought with a coupon weeks ago. I hand cut the image a bit smaller than the blue mat which was cut with Spellbinders Curved Rectangle. The edges of the sponged image & sentiment (also ODBD) panels are black embossed. Now I'm wishing the water splotches were smaller--next time--LOL! Finally opened my bottle of Goosebumps texture spray & used it on the scene--really a nice effect in person. The card front has stitching from Lil' Inkers & is embossed with a Tim Holtz folder. SSS Wed is Anything Goes, so I'll enter there. Since only the card itself was cut from a whole piece of cardstock, I'll take this over to Pixies Snippets Playground. SSS Work it Wed theme is to use blue, so I'll add my card there. Hard to believe it's already August, although our weather has felt like August for weeks--LOL! Thanks for your visit which I always appreciate.

Wonderful card! Love that inky beauty.
ReplyDeleteGreat card Greta. A great scene.
ReplyDeleteHello Greta,
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful masculine card, the image depicts the outdoors perfectly and I am sure your BIL will love what you have made.
Smiles:)

Wow the inking around the stamped image is so stunning, love it !
ReplyDeleteLOVE this Greta - and your brother is bound to love it too! Great colours you used with that stunning stamp.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting that you die cut the mat and then hand cut round the image. I think you might have something there in terms of the inner part of a die being a better reflection of the die cut than the outside is. Tee, hee - on the other hand - maybe you did it that way because of the image size :)
Hugs, Di xx
What a gorgeous scene Greta!

Fantastic masculine card Greta! Love the gorgeous scene that you created!
ReplyDeleteI think you can do just about anything with a card! This is simply gorgeous and I love the way you inked it. I am sure your brother in law will love it.
ReplyDeleteI can see the goosebumps spray and it does look wonderful.\
ReplyDeleteYour background is so pretty...and really suits this stamped image.
I am just still learning to get inky and have some inky underwater cards coming up but mine are very amateur...it sure is hard to get the colours right without letting them gey sort of muddy! You can tell mine are leaning towards muddy!
Great card, Greta.
Gorgeous card Greta, so elegant and I love your background.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge
hugs

You're going to have one smiling brother-in-law when he receives this card! A most 'handsome' image; a most 'striking' card (there's my attempt at 'guy words'). Truly, I think it's beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHugs~c
Now that's one handsome card Greta! Fabulous colors for this ODBD image and your water splatters are not too big!! Thanks for joining us this week Greta!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beauty! I love the colours you chose - they really pop against the black - and it's a great masculine design. Love the texture the Goosebumps adds (add? lol) too!
