As soon as I saw Penny Black's new slapstick/Cling Hot Rod!, 40-224, I knew it was a must-have as I'm married to a car nut! If we won the lottery he would have a car collection, no doubt. It arrived in time for me to use it for his Father's Day card & I finished it the night before--usual for me--LOL! However, it just didn't look quite right & so later that day I re-stamped & attached the car to his card. He generally leaves the cards I make for him on the coffee table for several weeks, so I see it every day. I've still never been happy with it & so today I stamped the car several more times & finally I got a version that looks much better on the card. The car was first inked with Distress Paints spun sugar & seedless preserves & stamped on cream cardstock. Then I overstamped with Versafine Onyx Black using my stamp positioner to get my 2-tone paint job. I trimmed it out & attached it to the foam tape still stuck on the card--just had to add a little Glossy Accents since it wasn't sticky anymore. The background is made with Penny Black's snow dust, 4102K, because I knew hubby liked the trees since he had me use that stamp on a sympathy card he sent. Another adjustment today was sponging on some darker ink at the bottom of the card.
Kind of strange to re-make a card after you give it, but he didn't mind & I'm much happier now. I'm also entering Penny Black Saturday Challenge & Casual Fridays.
By the way, did you see the sneak peak on the Penny Black blog? Looks like wonderful new products! Enjoy the rest of your weekend & hopefully I'll catch up with all of you soon as I have a week off. Thank you so much for stopping by.
Hello Greta
ReplyDeleteI have this snow dust Stamp and I love it, I also have used it for a sympathy card. Your Inked Bg looks amazing and the car also stunning. I do not make MAN cards, so I admire anyone who takes on this Challenge.
Smiles:)

Awesome card Greta. I love that stamp and it's on my wish list as I can see lots of use for a male card. I was hoping it would be in the stamps I won from PB, but not luck! Love the way you have updated the card. Like Hubby is getting a second card!
ReplyDeleteLove the card. That tree stamp is beautiful and I love how you did the bg!
ReplyDeleteLove the background. I just have to buy the Hot Rod stamp. Thanks for the mini-tutorial on coloring it. Very helpful.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, so glad to know I'm not the only one that has to "fix it" if it doesn't feel right! Love this card Greta!
ReplyDeleteI'm smiling at your post "Title" & the description of your "5th take".
ReplyDeleteOnly another paper crafter can appreciate & understand the time spent on the creative process. I can certainly relate!
What a FABULOUS card for your husband. I love the "Hot Rod".
Love how you combined both stamps on this, Greta! Looks like a great scenic drive!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool hot rod stamp! I love that you put in the effort for a two tone paint job :) How cute! I hope you are having a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove this Greta, gorgeous design. Love how you got the colors on that fabulous car!!
ReplyDeleteHi Greta - stopping in to see your handsome and striking card has certainly brightened my day! I returned home late yesterday, after having been evacuated, due to the flooding that has devastated and land-locked our little town of Canmore AB. Our place is safe, dry and as of an hour ago, with power and water. My husband is still unable to return home as the highways in-out still need repair. Fingers crossed mending will occur soon. In the midst of this chaos, your blog and card are real gifts! Thanks for bringing much brightness to the gloom! You have me smiling!!
ReplyDeletewhat a fantastic father's day card, greta! love the two-tone stamping on the car!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your hubby loved his fabulous card no matter which version he has! This is a nifty car and I love your placement of it!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that you kept at it until you were happy! And my youngest, who is 13, shares your hubby's goal for sure - I think he'd be happy with a Matchbox car collection that included everything ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning car...so much beautiful detail and it really adds so much to your amazing card.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful inking for this lovely scene, Greta. Amazing how you achieved the coloring on the hot rod, and I love the trees in the background - I may need to take a second look at those trees for my dh!
ReplyDeleteLove this card with the coloring and placement of the car!! So funny how you reworked it! hehe! That would be funny if you mailed a card to someone, then asked them to send it back so you could adjust it! ha! Thanks so much for playing along with us at CAS-ual Fridays this week!
ReplyDeleteWonderful card Greta - this is indeed a fabulous PB image and I lvoe your placement of the car wtih the background tree and sponged inkiness ... fabulous!. Thanks for joining in this month's Penny Black Saturday Challenge.
