Final Winnie & Walter cards for WCMD

My first card is for Background Building with Shay.  I've often seen words or sentiments used for a background, but for some reason I never seem to do it. Actually it was really fun using 2 words & the little snowflake from Big, Bold, Seasons with PTI inks Spring Rain & Blueberry Sky.  I inked the right side of the card front to match. The word from the matching dies was cut from white & silver glitter cardstocks.  I mounted the gem to a stack of tiny punched dots so it would be level with the word & "wishes" is from the same set.  I'm also entering HLS Anything Goes with Dies & Virginia's View.

Next is my card for Make a Card for a Friend. Yep, another card with my favorite W&W Hello die!  

I began by gold embossing the leaf from In Bloom: Renee's Leaves & then did layers of smooshing with Distress Inks scattered straw, spiced marmalade & shabby shutters. Distress Stain tarnished brass was used for the splatters.  I used a scrap of brown textured cardstock for the hello die cut & layered it to a gold one.  This card is going to a sweet friend who is about to make a big move to live in another state with family. I'm also entering Dies R Us & The Playground.  

Last but not least, a card for Colour Combo with Heather P.  Jennifer McGuire's recent video reminded me of using paper strips for backgrounds.  

I actually taught a class years ago, but with some strips laid down at 90 degree angles. I knew I had just the right die to inlay--haha! Gotta admit, I didn't use scraps, but instead inked up cheap white cardstock with Distress Inks peacock feathers, faded jeans & mowed lawn.  

The hello die cut is covered with my favorite smooth, sparkly glitter--Elizabeth Craft Cool Highlight.  I die cut a couple leaves using the W&W cover plate to use with one of my neglected paper flowers which I inked with peacock feathers.

Altenew & PTI

It's always sad to loose a friend & the fact that someone is elderly doesn't change that.  Tomorrow I'll attend the memorial service for the father of childhood friends.  He always gave me a big smile & seemed genuinely glad to see me.  I'm at the age where the adults I grew up admiring are rapidly decreasing in numbers--this is the second one in a month.  It also brings to the forefront my feelings of loss since my dad died nearly 7 years ago. It will be good to see a lot of people that were a huge part of my life, especially as a teenager.  Our faith gives us peace in the midst of sorrow.  

I used the color combo for the Altenew October Inspiration Challenge to make my card. The stamps are Layered Lily (only the top 2 layers) & Painted Sentiments stamped in Hero Arts Field Greens & Cup O' Joe, Memento Northern Pine & Distress Ink scattered straw (splatters).  The ivory panel is mounted to soft gold dp. 

Next is my card for PTI MIM Background Building with Frames.  

I still had my Take 3 die on the table, so decided to use it.  The stamp sets are Harvest Berries & Tiny Tags.  My stamping is done with Frost White, Memento Love Letter & Hero Arts Cup O' Joe. I'm also entering Dies R Us. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

More Fun with W&W

Took me awhile to spend my gc & I'm glad I didn't wait any longer. I'm having such fun putting my new goodies to use! It's always hard for me to buy the more expensive items, but gotta say, The Leaf Effect Cutaway was worth it!  I loved the first card I saw made with it & I'm still so drawn to the effects you can achieve.  My first card for Pinspiration with Heather H uses the traditional die cut over cardstock look, but I used textured cardstock & added Distress Rock Candy glitter.

My favorite hello die is stacked 3 high & clear embossed. Finished off with a few dots of Pico Embellisher. I'm also entering CropStop & Virginia's View.

I began my card for Rainbow Colour with Gayatri by making a Copics background.  Didn't like my first attempt to use it, but then I remembered my hexagon card.  

I love the design done with the leaves, which I cut from cardstock covered with Glimmer Dust spray adhesive. The sentiment & little sun are from Big, Bold, Seasons. The word summer is stacked 7 high, colored with the same blue Copic & clear embossed. Memento Dandelion & Love Letter inks were used for the stamping & I added a Nuvo clear drop to the center of the sun which is mounted with a pop dot.

WCMD with W&W

I had to work on Saturday, so I'm really glad Winnie & Walter is giving us until 10/9/16 to complete their WCMD challenges.  They don't even require you to use W&W products, but my order arrived quickly & I'm excited to put them to use!   

First up is CAS with Kate & boy did she make a wonderfully creative card to inspire us!  Fall has arrived at our place--turned on the heat for the first time.  Makes it easy to work on Fall cards which I did using In Bloom: Renee's Leaves & Big, Bold, Seasons. I've always loved browsing in stationary stores & was going for the look of a classy ivory Cranes note card.  The image is heat embossed in detail copper powder & the sentiment is stamped in Memento Northern Pine. I used AJVD Polka Dot Backdrop rectangle to cut the panel & mounted it with fun foam. I'm also entering CAS on Sunday, Virginia's View & Word Art Wednesday.

The other card I've completed so far is for Stretch Your Stamps with Kelly.  Again I used the same 2 stamp sets & a matching die. It's Spring for our friends in the Southern Hemisphere & that makes me think of flowers & pastels.  I stamped the leaf image in Brilliance Pearlescent Lavender to make a bloom--super fun & easy!  I sponged a bit of the ink in the center & added some splatters.  The sentiment is white embossed on a black scrap & the die cut word is 3 high, covered with MFT Glitter Glaze & attached with a black shadow.  I'm also entering SSS Wednesday & The Playground.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
  

Another Card for Thanksgiving

Loved Ashley's PTI MIM video.  I love pumpkins, but don't actually have many in my collection of stamps & dies.  Thought I'd have to use MFT pumpkins, but finally remembered I have PTI Take Three Fall.  I do want to try making a flower with pumpkins for another card, though.  

The images are stamped in Summer Sunrise & the shaker window is made with the Take Three die.  I used Versafine Vintage Sepia for the sentiment from the same set.  A Spectrum Noir sparkle pen makes the pumpkins shimmer & I tied on DeNami twine.  A lot of my cards are turning out pretty simple these days, but I do like a fresh & uncluttered look.  I'm also entering CAS-ual Fridays, Penny Black & More, Retro Rubber (stamp set over 2 yrs old), SSS Wednesday, Stamping Sensations & Word Art Wednesday. 
 

From the Heart

October 1 is WCMD & the start of a new challenge at PBSC. Here's my card that I hope inspires you to join us.  I used 3 images & a sentiment from PB's "every happiness"--a beautiful set from 2013. I tried several techniques, but ended up by inking 3 panels with Distress Inks.  Then the images were stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia several times using my Mini MISTI. I die cut them with AJVD Polka Dot Backdrop Rectangle & finally figured out an arrangement I liked.  After stamping the sentiment I dry embossed the card front with a Tim Holtz folder. Pearls are probably my favorite embellishment--yes, I know, sequins are in.
Hopefully my blogging friend is a bit old-fashioned like me--haha!  I'm entering SSS Wednesday & Word Art Wednesday.  Thanks so much for stopping by.
