Looking Like Fall!

Yesterday was probably the last day to walk Fritz wearing shorts & sandals, but that's OK with me.  I snapped a few pictures of changing leaves & giant pumpkins on our street.
I have 3 cards for challenges about to end.  First is my entry for Winnie & Walter Re-Run #14.  I did finally spend my gift certificate, so goodies will be here soon. Shay's card with blue leaves inspired me--so unexpected.
I did kind of the opposite using a Verve blossom on green patterned paper. My embossing powder is Zing Leaf & I sponged the centers with Distress Ink bundled sage.  The same ink was used to stamp the tiny flower, also from Verve Simply Amazing.  My favorite W&W Hello die was cut from the same patterned paper, clear embossed & mounted with a black shadow.  I'm also entering SSS Wednesday & CropStop.

Next is my entry for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, SSS Monday & SSS Work it Wednesday using Stampendous Shared Coffee embossed in detail copper powder.
Then I smooshed the panel with Distress Inks scattered straw, wild honey, ripe persimmon & fired brick. Scattered Straw Stickles was added to the steam & "F" & finished off with Dew Drops.  I used a Tim Holtz stencil with Distress Ink gathered twigs on the kraft card.

Last, but not least is my card for the Altenew September Inspiration Challenge.  I won the last Papercrafts monthly prize before they closed. Included was the Altenew Simple Shapes stamp set.  The last time I tried to use it everything ended up in the trash.
This time I was able to make a fun card using Memento Dandelion & Love Letter along with Hero Arts Soft Pool. Have to admit, I did stamp 4 samples on scratch paper before settling on this arrangement of the colors.  The Mini MISTI made it possible to get a good inking.  I used a sentiment from my new set, Painted Greetings.

Finished off with PPP Marshmallow sequins & spritzed with Perfect Pearls. I'm also going to add my card to the Ultimate Challenge Blog Hop & Word Art Wednesday. Happy to have cards ready to mail to some blogging friends. Thanks for making it through this long post.  I love reading your comments.

Halloween Bunnies

Oh boy did I have fun making this card!  I don't have any Impression Obsession Halloween products, but didn't want to miss the IO Trick or Treat challenge.  Decided to use the IO bunnies (DIE043-G) cut from self-adhesive fun foam & covered in DeNami purple & orange glitters.  I do have quite a selection of Halloween papers--most of it pretty old. I'd actually forgotten about the wonderful ones I got last year in a grab bag win from SSS--found 2 that were just what I needed.
2 strips of black cardstock were covered with black DeNami glitter & tiny black pearls make the bunny eyes.  So glad I have the white glittery alphabet stickers which I slightly overlapped after seeing that recently in a magazine.  I'm also entering ChouxChouxDie Cut Divas & the Flickr Love group. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Spring & Autumn

September 2016 Mood BoardI'm so happy to be back making cards. First is a break from Fall cards because of the beautiful mood board for Ellen Hutson Pin-Sights Challenge. I love the package with text & ribbon, but in the end I went with the beautiful bed linens. My smooshing inks are Distress Ink mowed lawn, worn lipstick, tumbled glass & squeezed lemonade.  I made mats from Spellbinders Labels 16 (first time, I think) for the EH Bold Blossoms cut from self-adhesive fun foam & covered with Rock Candy glitter--beautifully sparkly in person.
They're attached to SSS Fog cardstock which is wrapped with white crochet thread.  The little tags & sentiment are PTI Tiny Tags. Makes me think of Spring or Easter, so I'll put it aside until then. I'm also entering HLS Anything Goes with Dies.
My next card is for Thanksgiving & SSS Flickr Challenge #54. Fall colors often include orange & yellow, but I wanted to try just using deeper shades of green & red. Penny Black's sweetness was embossed with my new favorite Stampendous PEARLuster Moonstone powder.
It's too big a stamp for my mini MISTI, but decided splotchy is OK with the look of watercoloring.  I used Zigs Olive Green, Wine Red, Pale Rose & Distress marker fired brick. The die cut sentiment is one of my newest SSS purchases.  I embossed it with the same powder & inlaid it into the green panel. The dot over the "i" is a gem also embossed with the powder so it matches. Finished off with sequins & stars from my friend, Lisa. I'm also entering ATSM & SSS Monday. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Papertrey September Blog Hop Challenge

Blog-hop-logo
Blog HopHurray--it's PTI Blog Hop Day! I absolutely love the inspiration this month with black, kraft, green & pine cones.  Don't think I've ever used this color combo, but I will again.  Ended up with an anniversary card for my sister & BIL's 40th anniversary which is next month.  Yes, I did already make a card, but I'll save it for Valentine's Day.
That's because I ended up with a pocket where I can put the check we're giving them.  A sweet blogging friend gave me the PTI Monthly Moments Journal Card Pocket #1 since it has a little flaw & she got a replacement. Glad I finally gave it a try. The leaves from Turning a New Leaf are die cut from New Leaf cardstock & stamped in Mint Julep.  The sentiment from Don't Forget to Write is white embossed, a few Nuvo clear drops were added & a twine bow was tied onto the leaves.  Hard to see, but the embossing folder actually has tiny hearts where the lines intersect.  I'm also entering HLS Anything Goes with DiesThe Playground, SSS Wednesday & SSS Work it Wednesday.  There's always a ton of inspiration in the hops, so I'm off to check it out.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Flourishes is Back & Rudolph Days Starts the 25th!

I was sad when Flourishes closed as they were one of my favorite companies.  My collection hasn't been used much since then, but now Flourishes is back!  The store is open with brand new sets & a lot of the old ones marked way down.  I was inspired to use one of my favorite sets (retired at the time I won it) for my Rudolph Days GD card.
I began by embossing the gorgeous wreath in my new Stampendous powder called PEARLuster Moonstone on ivory cardstock.  It is absolutely stunning in person!  I have 3 Spectrum Noir colored Sparkle pens & finally opened the red & the green.
My first card is made from my practice image where I colored more of the leaves--decided it was good enough to make into a card. The ribbon is colored with gold WOS & the pine cones are done with a brown Faber-Castell big brush pen.  I covered the ornaments in gold Stickles & sponged & splattered with Distress Ink gathered twigs before mounting the panel with rounded corners to a kraft card.  I'm entering ATSMCropStop & PB and More.
Please do grab our logo to display on your own blog
My second card is one layer with fewer colored leaves, no splatters & very light sponging with Distress Ink antique linen.
I had the One Layer Simplicity challenge in mind thinking this is a very classic image & sentiment--hopefully making my card qualify as old-fashioned or vintage. I'm also entering SSS Work it WednesdayWord Art Wednesday.  Hope I've inspired you to check out the new Flourishes & to enter Rudolph Days which runs from the 25th to the end of the month.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Masculine Florals

Wow--I never go this long without posting a card! Usually I have lots of time to do what I want, but my trip & work & company all came together.
The weather is definitely changing, so we took advantage of a nice day to go for a very long drive. I snapped this picture when we stopped to stretch our legs. I finally did get a couple cards made after realizing I don't have time for most of the challenges I planned to enter.  Started at the top of my list with PTI MIM where Betsy's theme is Using Florals on a Masculine Project.
I wanted to make a thank you for my cousin & his wife, so it was just what I needed.  My color combo is Canyon Clay, Harvest Gold & Ocean Tides.  I used Twig Wreath for all but the sentiment which is from Take 3 Summer.  I thought it might have a bit more masculine feel not stamping the die cuts. Gotta admit, it was hard not to add glitter or pearls--haha! I'm also entering Curtain CallHLS Anything Goes with Dies & SSS Work It Wednesday.

Next is my card for SSS Flickr Challenge #54. Finally tried using alcohol inks on vellum--something I've seen Virginia do several times.  I just used a scrap of vellum to see if it would work using Butterscotch, Lettuce & Cranberry.  I die cut SSS Clustered Leaves in 3 sections to get as much as I could from the piece. Usually I cut it apart anyway.  I do love the look of the leaves, so will try this again with my other ink colors. Haven't used my burlap in a long time, so attached a piece to kraft cardstock & die cut a couple images from SSS Spring Flowers.  I wasn't happy with the look, so colored the large one with the Butterscotch ink & the small one with Cranberry. The sentiment from Elizabeth Craft is stacked 3 high & clear embossed. Finished off with PPP gold sequins & a little brown button I've had for many years.  I'm also entering The Playground & CropStop. Thanks so much for stopping by as I continue to catch up on your blogs.
