The 12 Kits of Occasions

You read that right--I'm joining in this month as Lisa's Guest Designer for The 12 Kits of Occasions--what an honor!  Gotta admit--it was a bit nerve wracking as I didn't want to mess up any pieces of the beautiful Sweet Pea kit.  I managed to pretty much fix my coloring goofs & have 4 cards to show you today with more to come.
I'm entering SSS Wednesday.
I'll be sending this to a blogging friend for her birthday, so I'm entering CCCB.
I'm entering Word Art Wednesday.
I'm entering my shaker with the faux stitching at SSS Monday.
Long post & pretty self-explanatory.  I actually colored the 2nd & 3rd cards with Copics--yah! My little girl's mom keeps her covered with sunscreen--haha! Someday maybe I'll try coloring skin.  Next, though, I want to try coloring flowers.  The shaker window is made from one of the glassine envelopes Lisa used to hold pieces of the kit & I really like the look which is very different from using acetate. Thank you so much, Lisa--I loved creating with your darling kit!  Be sure to check out the 12 Kits Blog for lots of inspiration from the very talented DT & 2 giveaways! Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

More Flowers

I really do love girly cards & had a great time making these 2.
AugustPinsightsThe mood board for the Ellen Hutson Pin-Sights Challenge is full of fabulous inspiration, but I kept being drawn to the bright pink flowers & white chairs in the upper right corner.

The chair backs made me think of stripes, so pulled out my Darice embossing folder for the card front. I heavily inked a scrap with Distress Ink picked raspberry & used it to die cut the largest Ellen Hutson Bold Blossom flower 3 times.  The leaves are cut from vellum & the blossom is covered with Wink of Stella.
My new SSS Painted Hugs die was cut from textured gray cardstock 3 times.  I added PPP marshmallow sequins to finish off the card.  I'm also entering SSS Flickr Challenge #52 & HLS Anything Goes with Dies.
Next is my card card for a2z Scrapbooking Color it In challenge.
I used Hero Arts Color Layering For You Flowers stamp set which I bought after seeing a video using the images on their own instead of layered.  The second step flower & leaf images are white embossed on a square of Bristol paper so I could color with my Zigs.
I added splatters from the darkest purple & aqua pens & then misted several times from about 15 inches away with Perfect Pearls.  I used a Spellbinder die to cut the opening in a square of the same textured gray cardstock I used in the first card.  The sentiment from the same set is white embossed on a die cut vellum circle (Lifestyle Crafts) matted with a slightly larger circle. PPP sparkling clear sequins finish off the card. I'm also entering Darnell's NBUS #7 (hadn't used the flower or sentiment), SSS Wednesday & Allsorts. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

PTI & HA

I have a couple projects to show you today.  First up is my tag for PTI MIM.  I only have 2 cover plates & really loved the look of Linda's tag using Garden Gild, so that's what I went with. The tags are cut with Mega Mat Stack 3 from Pure Poppy & Vellum. The black dots are Pico Embellisher & the sentiment is from Don't Forget to Write.
May have gone a bit overboard spraying with Perfect Pearls, but I'm proud of myself for taking the time to actually attach one of my very old eyelets before adding the twine! Thinking this could work for Christmas or Valentine's Day.  I'm also entering ATSMCCCB & Inkspirational.

Next is my entry for ABNH where the theme is Pop of Color.  My sister & her hubby are celebrating their 40th anniversary this Fall. She prefers silver over gold & her favorite color is blue--which she used for her wedding.  This is my first time to use HA Love by Lia set given to my by a sweet blogging friend.  I wanted a simple, elegant card that my BIL would like as well as my sister. The heart was stamped in Delicata Shimmery Silver & I used faded jeans Distress Marker to add dots to some of the flower centers & to ink the sentiment from the same set.  The panel & mat are die cut with AJVD Polka Dot Rectangle Backdrop dies--a gift from another sweet blogging friend.  I had just a snippet of the sheer, silver ribbon which I tied across the bottom. The panel is mounted with fun foam to a panel cut from a slightly grayed white cardstock which ties in with the ribbon & makes the heart panel stand out a bit more.  I really love how it turned out & hopefully they will, too.  I'm also entering Darnell's NBUS Challenge & The Playground.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Beachy Colors

The current challenge at Impression Obsession is A Day at the Beach.  I don't have beach themed stamps, per se, so I'm using beachy colors of blue & tan Tattered Angels mists with the IO Infinite Beauty (C5159) stamp.
I began by clear embossing the quote stamped in Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate.  I tore painter's tape & covered 1/2 the square of watercolor paper at a time & spritzed with several tan & blue mists.  For even more shimmer, the entire panel was sprayed with Perfect Pearls--wish I could capture it in a photo. Thought the IO Three Little Twigs (E8829) could work as beach grass, so stamped it in VersaMagic Gingerbread on all 4 sides of the kraft card front.  My design was inspired by Twofers Challenge to make a stamped sentiment the focus.  Since I made a square card, I'm also entering SSS Wednesday. We're so happy Oregon temps are coming back & hopefully it will help with fighting the wildfires. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Papertrey August Blog Hop Challenge

Blog-hop-logo
Funny start to the day when I took Fritz out on the deck.  He immediately got his hackles up & started barking--very unusual for him.  I couldn't see anything in the yard & then I saw him looking at the sky.  I looked up to see a hot air balloon!
August Blog Hop
Onto my card which I started last night for the PTI Blog Hop.  Such a gorgeous inspiration photo this month, although I always have trouble determining colors looking at pictures on the computer.  My friend, Rosemary, saw coral, dark yellow & navy--her card is stunning!  I saw shades of white, pink, brown & black, so my paints are Distress spun sugar & picket fence; Black acrylic; Brown watercolor.
When I first saw the inspiration it reminded me of this paintingthis background technique so that's what I did.  The sentiment is from PTI Meadow Greens & is stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black.  I've had that ink pad for many years & it still works great.  In fact, I used my Mini MISTI, but the sentiment looked perfect with 1 stamping.  My blogging friend, Stella, gave me a package of wonderful buttons including this one which I threaded with some twine.  I planned to add some stamping to the background this morning, but wasn't convinced it would look as good as leaving it plain. Stella is the queen of using a single embellishment--something I never do.  In fact, I had 3 different buttons laid out at first, but hope I made Stella proud using just one--haha!  Very simple card & not my usual, but I thoroughly enjoyed making it & do like how it came out.  We're supposed to be back near 100 degrees today & I'm good at putting off housework so will be catching up on your blogs.  I'm also entering CropStop. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Altenew Layered Lily

I've admired cards made with Altenew stamps for a long time, so was really happy to win a gc. Usually I agonize for months over what to get, but it expired in 1 month.  Thought about butterflies, but in the end decided on the Layered Lily--not like any of the floral stamps I have. Usually I let myself order a bit more than the gc, so I also got the matching dies & the Painted Greetings sentiment set.
I think I made a great choice--loved making this card!  I used the gorgeous color combo for the August Altenew Inspiration challenge. I tried a lot of inks & ended up using these: VersaMagic Pixie Dust & Pink Petunia; Brilliance Pearlescent Coral (a pink ink), Starlite Black, Platinum Planet & Starlite Silver; Delicate Silvery Shimmer.  The splatters are done with Pearlescent Coral & Distress Stain brushed pewter.  The stitching is Lil' Inker Stitched Rectangle & I used 3 PPP clear dots for embellishment.  I'm also entering Curtain Call, The Playground & Stamping Sensations.  Life has kept me busy, so I'm a little behind on reading blogs. Don't think I've forgotten you--I'll catch up soon.

Thinking of You

Maile's Card

Oh boy is it hot here-- can't even walk Fritz! Definitely a crockpot day!  We're so lucky, though, not to be suffering with floods or fires--so many people's lives devastated.
It's always a tough choice to pick a DT project for PTI Create Along with Us. I decided to go with one of Maile's cards featuring her new Splits set. Right now I just have one, but plan to add a lot of the others to my collection eventually. I always print out the PTI color combos & sketches, so browsed my notebook to get some ideas for colors to use with Stormy Sea. Gotta say, the Mini MISTI is so worth having as it lets you stamp with lighter colors.  This card is for a blogging friend going through a tough time, so I wanted beautiful & cheery colors.  I ended up with Autumn Rose, Aqua Mist & Lavender Moon.  I love the layout, but next time I'll make each strip a bit bigger.
Love using Star Dust Stickles instead of coloring the image.  Hopefully it's close enough to qualify for CTS & SSS Wednesday. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by. Can't do anything outside, so guess I'll "have" to make cards--haha!

MFT Summer Camp Final Cards

Back from the mostly fogged in Bay to the overly sunny valley!  If we wanted to live in triple digit temps, we'd be in the South--haha!  At least it's only supposed to last 3 days.
PrintI finished up my last 2 MFT Summer Camp cards. First is hubby's anniversary card--for once I'm not making it the day before!  Day 3 is Remarkable Resist--one of my favorite techniques.
Most of the time I use outline images, but the video inspired me to use this great solid image from a retired MFT set.
I  blended with Distress Ink chipped sapphire since hubby loves blue. The little hearts are from the same MFT set.  I blended the chipped sapphire on the card front, but kept it lighter. The focal point was backed with fun foam for dimension.  I'm also entering CropStopParu's Card Making Challenge & The Playground.
Pixies Crafty Workshop
PrintThe last challenge is Stunning Shadow Stamping--something I've seen before but never tried.  I have lots of MFT dies, but not many stamp sets.  Wasn't sure it would work, but pulled out MFT Primitive Pumpkins.
Actually, I really love the result using kraft cardstock.  Guess what ink I used--DI Carved Pumpkin, of course! The little stars & sentiment are from the same set.  I stamped the little swirl in PTI Simply Chartreuse & the sentiment in Versafine Vintage Sepia.  It's been a long time since I did partial dry embossing.  Echo Park's Random Dots provided just the little something extra the card needed.  I'm also entering Stamping Sensations.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.  I'm catching up with your blogs as fast as I can.
