But the biggest find is that I saw a dermatologist to price removal of some skin lesions I knew were benign. She did a complete skin check--I have many moles. Turned out I needed 4 biopsies & 3 of them came back with "unusual features" which means they could turn to Melanoma. I was pretty shocked & grateful they were caught. Now I get to have 3 in-office surgeries--not fun, but worth it! I'm sharing so any of you with a lot of moles will consider seeing a dermatologist.
Enough of that--on to my card for Betsy's wonderful PTI MIM challenge: Ombre Stenciled Backgrounds. May be one of the best galleries ever--such beautiful cards!
Hope you like mine done with PTI The Sweet Life & Quilled Elegance using PTI inks Limeade Ice & Lemon Tart. The stencil is by MFT & I finished off with PPP Marshmallow sequins. I'm also entering SSS Wednesday & Seize the Birthday. Thanks for stopping by.
I love your card; really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour card is stunning, Greta. Really love how you left to much white above your beautiful stencilling. And, so happy you caught those moles early. Great cautionary tale. I have lost and found stamps in the craziest of places. Sometimes, I am tempted to never allow my craft room to be vacuumed. Lately, I lost a few tiny dies, that flew away when I snipped them apart. Will probably never find them unless I can get a hold of one of those metal detectors people take to the beach.
ReplyDeleteIt always freaks me out when I find lost things I didn't even know I lost... like how many lost things do I actually lose that I don't know about?! As for moles, best to get them checked although I got referred to a derm who was all like "why are you bothering me with your routine moles??!" Like I had no idea they were routine. So if you get a lousy doctor--get a different one! Lovely card, love that stenciling!
ReplyDeleteYikes - I'm glad they caught the moles in time... not fun, but I'm glad you're safe!
ReplyDeleteThe sponging on your card is sheeeeeer perfection! That green and yellow together seem so springy!
As for losing things... sigh* Story of my life. I always keep telling myself that I'm going to put my stamps away RIGHT away... but then I never do. WOops!
Sorry to hear the surgery on three moles Greta but it's good that you got them checked early. My hubby and I both had appointments to have things checked a few months ago. My husband had to have one removed. Always good to check. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful. The stencilling looks lovely and the flower looks good embossed in white. I still haven't found my Anna Griffin 'Hello' and I loved that little stamp. I lost a bee die last year and that never turned up. Barbxx
Beautiful card!!!Glad you got that checked eary.you take care, have a Blessed weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteYour card is wonderful. I love your background (as you know I wasn't very happy with me but determine to try it again)
ReplyDeleteI am happy for your find, especially the stamp, I couldn't tell you how many dies and stamp set that just disappear, I wish I could find them soon! Do take care!
Greta, fortunate indeed, both your finds and the doctor's finds! We get checked out once a year...totally on top of that! Now about missing things...I have a little baggie that has a couple of little stamps and for the life of me I cannot figure out what set they go to, so they sit in the baggie and hopefully one day I will use the set and notice a leaf is missing and then VOILA I will have found it's home. And gosh darn was I mad at myself when I snipped some tiny dies apart and one went flying, I thought just on top of my desk, but I searched High and low, in the the garbage everywhere. even got down on the ground with a magnet (ha ha) and never did find that little die! See you Tuesday!!
ReplyDeleteLove the card! Thanks for sharing your health issue. Glad you caught it in time and great warning for others. I have always had a lot of moles. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love how you used the same colors in the background and the focal point. Awesome!!
ReplyDeleteLots of fortunate finds then, Greta! I had the same experience about four years ago only one of mine was melanoma right on my left check and I need two surgeries to get it all. Not fun at all, so removing anything suspicious now when areas are less invasive and dangerous is the way to go! I'm glad you are taking care of it! Your card, as always is beautiful!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteSorry you have to go through this Greta, but I'm happy it was caught early. Your card is just as pretty as can be! Great job with the technique, love those yellow flowers to bits! Oh, the lost stamps...I lost a complete set once LOL!!! I found it later that day and felt like a real nut LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteAlways a treat to find lost items :) It's like Christmas! Happy your lesions are not melanoma! Scary stuff! Living in AZ, I slap on the sunscreen daily and get yearly checks but refuse to give up hiking and biking outdoors. Can't stop living. Your card is beautiful Greta! Love the fancy roses!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to your missing stamps...I have yet to find a hello stamp! I glad to hear that you got checked with the skin issue. Early removal is the key (almost always). Your card is gorgeous as I really love the colors and subtle textured background! Be well, Greta! Thanks so much for playing Simon Says Stamp Wednesday “Touchy Feely” Challenge!
ReplyDeleteI lose a good few stamps as well, but mine are usually 'puppied', our youngest lab is now three but still acts like one and grabs anything that hits the floor.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your skin issues, but as you say good it's been icked up early.
A beautiful card today full of Springtime.
Hope you have a good weekend, looks like being a cold one.
B x
Wonderful card, love the colours you have used and the layout. How neat is it when you find that missing stamp, I'm still looking for my spare Peerless paint squares and I know they are there somewhereeeeeee. Anyway hope all goes well with your visits for removals and its always good o remind us to do the same ourselves.
ReplyDeleteHad a giggle at you losing little stamps... I did exactly the same last week, even ended up tidying my desk.... found a missing die but not the stamp. Hoping it will turn up unexpectedly somewhere. Very glad you managed to find your "suspect moles" early. My hubby has to have minor surgery at least twice a year... I get a whole body check once a year just to be safe.
ReplyDeleteps - didn't even say what a beautiful card too Greta. Love the colour you chose for your background. So pretty
ReplyDeleteStunning card!! I'm so glad you caught those baddies quickly ... good luck with your surgery my friend.. Oh and I have a habit of losing things like that ... sometimes they turn up and sometimes the fairies don't give them back!
ReplyDeleteGreta, now I must thank you for joining us at Seize the Birthday!! I didn't realize it was posted there too!! Great stenciling background and beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely take on the MIM technique, greta!! glad that you were able to find the missing stamps... never fun when you can't find one of those little guys!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Greta! Lemon tart and limeade ice - I must remember that combination. Just perfect with the sequins as a finishing touch!
ReplyDeleteYour card is so beautiful, Greta. All the white left over your stencil background looks pretty. Happy your visit to the dermatologist caught those moles early, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have lost and found stamps in the strangest places, still looking for a HAPPY BIRTHDAY from a favorite HA stamp set :-O
Greta....this is just gorgeous! I love the colors and those roses are so pretty. I too have lost tiny stamps and dies and have found them in places that they should never have been. I have to agree with Joyce, never vacuum your craft space, I think I would panic if I heard the sound of something being sucked up!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, love the look of Lemon Tart (which I don't own) and Limeade Ice for your stenciled background! The white embossed flowers look so striking. So glad you found your missing stamps but really happy you saw a dermatologist. I've been going for an annual skin check for several years and wouldn't miss. Want to catch it early is my motto! Good luck, Greta!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Ombre background and lovely card my Friend!
ReplyDeleteGlad you saw the dermatologist.
I am covered with moles and have had three removed already
Big Hugs~
I am glad you found your stamps! I hate loosing even the smallest stamp myself! But I am most relieved and happy to hear about the dermatologist find! And your card is sunny and lovely! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGlad you saw the dermatologist and caught it early, Greta! I had one checked last fall and have had several removed in the past. Your birthday card is so pretty with the green/yellow and lovely flowers! Take care and have a great week!:-0
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Greta! Love your colour choice for your ombre background.
ReplyDeleteDo you know how many times I've lost things like that lol! Sometimes, there attached to me, sometimes their under things. I'll sit there and say to myself....I just had it, where did it go ? lol! Greta, this card has to be one of my favorites from you, absolutely gorgeous friend!
ReplyDeleteMy oh my this is tunning! I love the ombre effect of the colors you used and it's elegant and chic. Wow!
ReplyDeleteI am famous for losing stamping like that lol. Glad to hear you got some answers about your skin.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful card! Love the background. Thanks for playing along with Seize the Birthday.
Those little stamps sometimes enjoy playing hide-and-seek, don't they! Glad you found them! My husband has 'standing' appointments with a dermatologist for the very reason you've mentioned; red hair and fair skin (not to mention the many hours in the sun from riding his bike) makes him a 'classic candidate' for skin issues. All is well, though. Hope your issues will be the same as his: simple and preventative. Your ombre background, paired with the pretty yellow flowers, is incredibly pretty!
