Live with Passion

Our Badge!!!Welcome to another Words 2 Scrap By challenge--Fight Like a Girl. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month & pink is everywhere--even on the football field!  The perfect chance for me to make my favorite kind of card--girly & elegant.  I never seem to use my tattered rose Distress Ink pad but I will again--a gorgeous shade of pink! Emboss resist is definitely one of my favorite techniques & that's what I did using the Stamplorations Distressed Floral Swirls.
After dry embossing the panel with one of the new 3D We R Memory Keepers folders I sponged a bit more ink on the raised areas & spritzed with Tattered Angels pearl mist. Melissa Phillips "junk bows" are so easy & fun and gave just the right look. The sentiment is from Stamplorations Trendy Butterflies.  I just inked some scraps with the tattered rose, white embossed & mounted them with foam tape. A few years ago I hunted for months to find adhesive pearls to use on cards & finally found one choice--an expensive little pack all one size intended for scrapping wedding pictures.  Guess I was ahead of my time because a year later everybody had pearls in tons of colors & sizes. Well, sequins may be in, but I still love my pearls! Remember to take care of yourself & treasure each day. Thanks so much for coming by.
I'm entering the Stamplorations Anything Goes Challenge & Pixies Snippets Playground.  Edited to add: Also entering Anything Goes at SSS Wednesday.

Pumpkin Foil!

I am soooo good at procrastinating--haha! Lots to do before my trip to visit with my sister, but couldn't let that keep me from making a card using my latest foil purchase--yes, the color is pumpkin! Pulled out my MFT pumpkin dies & self adhesive fun foam. Aren't they beautiful?! Glad I bought the DCWV The Harvest House paper pad as I used 3 of those lovely patterns. MFT layered leaves are cut from kraft & vellum. The sentiment is from the MFT Primitive Pumpkins set & is stamped in VersaMagic Jumbo Java.  I used the current MFT Sketch & I'll also enter at The Kraft Journal, Pixies Snippets Playground & SSS Monday. Thanks so much for stopping by.

PTI MIM

I don't have a PTI sentiment stamp really big enough for the MIM technique.  Striped coverplates are also missing from my collection. However, I was determined to enter the challenge, so had to make do with what I have.  Check out Danielle's video to see her great examples.  White cardstock is pretty cheap so I just stamped on the white panel & then lined up the strips (after white embossing) & trimmed it to size. Couldn't resist adding some white paint splatters. Love the flowers in the Twig Wreath set which I cut from this pretty rose felt & attached with old black square brads.  Fortunately I had rose colored cardstock that was a pretty good match to the felt.
Not sure about this sentiment, but I do believe good self esteem is important for all of us. Heading for a visit to my sister's this week, so won't have much computer time. Hubby & Fritz will keep the home fires burning & I'll catch up with you when I can.

Papertrey September Blog Hop Challenge

Blog-hop-logo
I've been working on this card for the last 4-5 days as I kept getting interrupted.  At least I finished in time this month to enter the always inspiring PTI Blog Hop Challenge.
September Blog Hop InspirationI love wreaths & my last PTI order included the new Twig Wreath stamps & dies.  My inspiration came from the wreath being one that isn't solid leaves & the Fall colors. It was so much fun to stamp the wreath & various other images in the set. You don't have to be exact--sort of on the order of collage stamping (which I'm not good at) but this was very forgiving since you have the wreath as a starting point.
The inks are Memento Rich Cocoa, Northern Pine, Morocco & Peanut Brittle.  The berries are second generation with Frost White--could have done them full strength I see now. The sentiment from the set is heat embossed after stamping in Encore Metallic Champagne. The slight shadow effect is done with the Rich Cocoa. The flowers are die cut from an off white felt & are attached together & to the panel with my very old copper brads.  I added some white & brown splatters & made the little striped strip with the same inks using the narrow image from Watercolor Wonder. Finished off with some twine.  I can't wait to make more cards with this set!  Lots to see, so I'm off to check out the hop. My stamping lets me enter at SSS Monday & with no designer paper I'll join in at SSS Wednesday. Haven't entered a Uniko challenge in awhile, so heading over there.  The first challenge at ChouxChoux Paper Arts includes Fall cards, so this will be my second entry. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

BOO

I'm not really big on Halloween, but it's fun to see the little ones all dressed up.  Fritz is doing so well even when someone comes to the door.  He stops barking when I tell him it's OK & doesn't just go crazy like our other dogs did. Halloween may be a bit much, though.  Luckily, we seldom have many kids.  I do usually send a card to my sister & didn't want to miss the Impression Obsession challenge, Happy Haunting!  I don't have any IO Halloween stamps or dies, but thought the tree die (DIE006-V) would work.  Obvious why the Fancy Pants black glitter paper was on clearance--it sheds!  Oh well, does make a sparkly tree & my sis won't mind.  I cut a piece from my favorite shimmery Halloween designer paper by KI Memories which I've had for years.  The dies are Spellbinders Reverse Wonky Rectangles.  I picked up the purple & green in the paper (have to look close to see it) & used the little Teresa Collins stickers to spell BOO.  Finished off with some of my little black gems--$1 for a whole sheet!  I did have fun making this card, so maybe I'll have to make some others for Halloween this year.  Thanks to my friends, Maria & Char, I'm linking up to the first ever challenge at ChouxChoux Paper Art where the prize is a gift certificate for Lawn Fawn. Several snippets were used, so I'll head to The Playground. Always makes my day to read your comments--thank you!

Warm Wishes for Fall

I missed the last SSS Flickr challenge, but when I saw the new theme is emboss resist I had to play along. It's definitely one of my favorite techniques.  I used stamps from SSS Warm Wishes with Distress Inks spiced marmalade, fossilized amber & peeled paint.  The sentiment is stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa which was also used to ink the mat.  Finished off with Dew Drops (a prize from Pixies Snippets Playground) using a Copic to make a clear one match the spiced marmalade.  I used Fall colors to enter the challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog & my stamping (a set from last year's STAMPtember) lets me enter at SSS Monday. Happy Fall if you're in the Northern Hemisphere & thanks so much for stopping by.

Thanksgiving Blessings

Create-along-with-us-heading
Away in a Manger Card
Nichole's Card
It's PTI release week, so instead of MIM the challenge is to be inspired by a DT project. Since I love making Christmas cards, my first idea was to use Snowflake Flurries with the design of a Maile card. But then I saw Autumn Adornments & thought it'd be beautiful used with Pearl Ex like this card Nicole did with Perfect Pearls.  I stamped the image & sentiment in Versamark on brown cardstock & brushed on Super Bronze Pearl Ex.

The panel is mounted with foam tape to the card front covered with brown cardstock.  Easy to make & flat for mailing, so maybe hubby's newly found cousins will get Thanksgiving cards this year!  Thanks for stopping by.

Grateful

Card Design Superstar
Very last minute entry for the MFT contest: You Could Be A Card Design Superstar.  Fall has arrived & the leaves are changing colors.
I was inspired to use fun foam & gold foil with MFT Fall Leaves dies.  The background panel was sponged with Distress Inks scattered straw, wild honey & spiced marmalade before dry embossing with the Darice leaves folder. The MFT script from Thankful Leaves is stamped in Distress Ink frayed burlap as is the sentiment from the same set.  Work again tomorrow, but I'll catch up soon with your blogs.  Lots of my favorite techniques here: foil on fun foam, dry embossing & sponging inks, so I'll also enter at SSS Monday.  And since Fall is the theme for SSS Work It Wednesday, I'll enter there. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Fall Leaves

Finally got my card done for the Sept. Lil Inker Meet Up Challenge.  I began by making a smooshed watercolor paper panel with Distress Inks fired brick, dried marigold, spiced marmalade & scattered straw.  Then I swiped on some Tarnished Brass Distress Stain & die cut 3 leaves from Lil Inker Modern Mehndi.  The matching stamp was inked in Memento Olive Grove--a color I seldom if ever use, but it was perfect for this card.  Lil Inker Stitched Rectangles dies were cut from kraft cardstock to make the frame & ended up using the inside piece as well for a little different design. The sentiment from Modern Mehndi was stamped with the same green ink & finished off with 3 little pearls. Smooshing has become one of my favorite techniques, so I'm also entering the SSS Monday challenge.  Since I used several die cuts, I'll enter at SSS Wednesday & the Fall colors let me enter SSS Work It Wednesday. Thank you so much for the votes of confidence you left on my last post--they truly made my day.

Thankful for You

Card Design SuperstarMFT has a big contest right now that is about to end:  You Could Be A Card Design Superstar
I've been trying for days to figure out what to enter.  Finally I was inspired by the new paper pad I got on sale at JoAnn's--DCWV The Harvest House.
MFT's Primitive Pumpkins dies were cut from orange felt given to me by my friend, Martha. MFT Royal Leaves were cut from kraft cardstock & I tied & curled some gold thread around each stem.  I arranged the pumpkins & mounted them to the smaller MFT Dizzy Doily die cut.  Two of the other papers were attached to a kraft card & the sentiment from MFT Thankful Leaves was stamped in VersaMagic Jumbo Java.  The trim was a gift from my friend, Nat--glad I saw the unopened package in my ribbon drawer.  This will be my 3rd card for Darnell's NBUS challenge & I'm entering the 200th challenge at Word Art Wednesday & The Kraft Journal with Patterned Paper, Leaves, Die Cut.  Now I need to make a bunch more of these as I truly am thankful for all of you.  Edited to add: Entering SSS Work It Wednesday.

Camouflaged Pocket Inserts

Here's my card for a couple challenges about to close--PTI MIM & SSS Monday.  It's also my second entry for Darnell's NBUS Challenge & you've still got time to enter for a chance at tons of prizes! My design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches
I stamped the image from PTI Ombre Builder (NBUS) in Autumn Rose on white cardstock & clear embossed an image from PTI Turning a New Leaf. Score tape was used to attach it to the dry embossed Autumn Rose panel.  The insert is made with PTI Mat Stack 3. Two images from Turning a New Leaf were die cut from Simply Chartreuse & stamped with the matching images in matching ink & they are attached only to the insert.  The sentiment is from Twig Wreath, also NBUS.

I looked through my notebook of PTI color combos which is why I used Dew Drops close to the color of Hawaiian Shores.
Hope you've enjoyed the weekend.  We've had fun getting back into football, even if our beloved Oregon Ducks & Seattle Seahawks did loose. At least we could cheer for last year's Duck QB who had a fabulous first NFL game.  Thanks for stopping by.
