Had a great start to my day off when I happened to be at the kitchen window as 2 Black-headed Grosbeaks came to my bird feeder. They're strikingly beautiful!
Last minute, but wanted to participate in the celebration of Flourishes 6th Birthday. Heather Jensen's inked background technique for the Color Your World challenge intrigued me as I didn't know you could sponge over an image stamped in Memento ink. I used one of my favorite Flourishes stamp sets called Thinking of You. My Distress Inks are shaded lilac, squeezed lemonade & peacock feathers. These tiny black gems were in a close-out sale making it inexpensive to create a frame with them. The image was die cut with a Spellbinders oval & attached with foam tape to the card made with Spellbinders Labels Ten using a soft metallic gray for the front. Finished off with a little sheer black bow & now I have a card ready for a birthday or to send a note to a friend. Thanks for stopping by & letting me know your thoughts.
The tricolor background is so pretty and works so well with the stamp. Beautiful! Check out my blog when you have a chance ~ a black headed grosbeak made an appearance on my blog today. What a treat that you had a couple visit your feeder today!
ReplyDeleteLove the inked bg!
ReplyDeleteYour background is striking behind this floral image Greta!! SB 10 is one of my faves, love the way you've used it here!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing! Thanks for playing along in the Create With Me Monday. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card my Friend!
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast between the very classic elegant stamped image and the funky modern colors!
Thank You~

ReplyDeleteOhhh...just gorgeous, Greta! I saw Heather's technique on this and really enjoyed seeing her process! Love what you did with this project, too! Gorgeous color and lovely frame! I must give this technique a try!
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous...love the shape and your beautiful coloring. But that oval black bling is a fabulous way to finish off such a wonderful card.
ReplyDeleteLove how you inked up the background... pretty card!
ReplyDeleteStunning card, Greta! The image, the colours you sponged, the bling frame and the shaped card all add up to gorgeous++++ Again, you've showcased a new technique beautifully! Grosbeaks at your feeder: what a treat! We're not allowed bird-feeders in Canmore, because they *may* attract wildlife...sighhh. Then again, bears or cougars in the backyard wouldn't be fun!! Hope you have a fantastic Friday!!

ReplyDeleteNow, I went back & read it properly, but I had to tell you - on my first reading, I thought it said you had "2-headed grosbeaks" at your feeder. Thought I would share that for a chuckle :) I know I always feel a little thrill when the birds come to visit me!
ReplyDeleteI love the intense colour you've got with your background - and I'm a magpie, so I'm definitely in love with that gem frame :)
