Spring Card and Babies!

Here's my card for the Impression Obsession Springtime Fun challenge.  Spring means flowers adding color again to the world.  I used Five Roses, J2441 for the first time & tried out a new technique.  I love watercolor so started by inking the stamp with Memento Grape Jelly, Sweet Plum, Lilac Posies, Pistachio & PTI Simply Chartreuse, then spritzed & stamped on watercolor paper.  Next I over-stamped slightly off the image & embossed in white.  Using a brush, I colored the blossoms with the inks using a circular motion & not trying to stay in the lines.  I also added color for the stems & leaves--again, not staying in the lines.  The panel was cut into 3 pieces, matted, wrapped with ribbon & mounted with foam tape to the card.  I punched a MS butterfly from some printed paper in the same colors, inked the edges & added pearls.  Hope you like it.
Last month hubby's oldest granddaughter had her first child & Sunday we got to meet Declan.  They live in Texas so we hadn't expected to see him for quite awhile.  Unfortunately they were here because of an illness in one of her relatives, but we were happy there was a good side to it.  We weren't the only ones seeing him for the first time.  With grandma, auntie & great grandma taking turns holding him, doubt he will want to sleep in his bed for a month!  We also met the other new baby at the house, Harvey--10 wk old puppy.  It was such a fun day!  Thought you might enjoy a few pictures.  Thanks for stopping by.  ETA: I'm entering this card in the Moxie Fab World Wonder of Watercolor Challenge.

  11. Gorgeous ! You must be so proud... but enough about the baby, your card shows a fantastic technique and from the photo the effect is of the embossed flowers floating over the rest of the panel, it fools the eye completely (well mine anyway). Very well done.
