Life is Sweet

Some of you know I have many rose bushes--my dad & I shared our love of them.  Naturally, when I saw the PTI Sweet Life stamp set I knew I had to have it.  My sister who's in another state recently commissioned me to make a wedding card for the daughter of her friend.  She didn't know the wedding colors, so we decided to use their dishes since I could look at them on-line.  I had a couple more of the roses stamped from practicing, so decided to make a card for my sister with one.  She will be so surprised when she sees it--fun!  This card is a little different than the one for the couple since I wanted to try the negative die cut technique with the leaves.  The cutting is easy enough, but there must be a better way to figure out how to get your stamping in the right place.  Close enough--probably just need more practice.  This is my entry for the Passion for Papertrey challenge that fortunately was extended!  Big day planned tomorrow & hopefully I'll have some pictures to share.  Thank you for stopping by--I always appreciate it.

  7. Hi Greta ~ your roses are simply gorgeous, and those, along with the negative die cut to frame the leaves and the diamond pearls makes a stunning, eye-catching combination! Your sister will love this - how thoughtful you are! I'd love to see photos of your rose bushes in bloom, especially since we live in an area (Canadian Rocky Mountains), where roses aren' too plentiful (I miss having a garden...). Thank you for commenting on my 'pastel' frame and butterfly (with the hitch-hiked pearl!); you're messages are always so warm and motivating!
You asked about Bend: this little city of about 81,000 is in Central Oregon, east of the Cascades. We've been 5 times - and hopefully will be heading back in July, when my husband will race in the Cascade Classic road cycling event. Two days' drive both directions, but worth every kilometer (er, mile!!). LOVE Bend! At some point we're hoping to add Portland as a destination, too.
    Have a wonderful Sunday!!

  8. Greta, this card is so pretty. I love the die cut elements, especially around the leaves. I haven't seen that done before. It would be cool if you did a tutorial sometime in the future.
