W&W and PTI

Took a break for mailing cards to make a couple more for some challenges I hate to miss.
First up is my W&W card which I'm entering in Heather's Color Challenge and Rerun No 26
Shay's Rerun cards inspired me to stamp my background with some of the little words in Big, Bold, Seasons.  I brushed on some brown ink after I finished stamping.  The panel was mounted to a light gray cardstock which I also used as a shadow for the noel die cut.  The little snowflake stamped on the word in 2 shades of blue is also from Big, Bold, Seasons.  The lightest blue was brushed on after the stamping as the stark white didn't seem to go very well with my background.  Just for fun I added some silver thread under the brown panel & finished off with my newest Mocha sequins.  I'm also entering ModSquad & Word Art Wednesday.

Next is my card for Betsy's PTI MIM Challenge to use a fan brush to make trees.  Let's just say I won't be getting rid of my tree stamps--haha!  However, it was really fun to go way out of my comfort zone & hubby was very impressed--yah!  May end up making this his Christmas card.
I have no idea why I bought a fan brush, but now it's actually been used.  I used Prima Confections watercolor & as you can see I made a forrest of trees.  My theory was that each tree didn't have to be so good & it worked.  I wanted to keep everything pretty soft & muted, so I used white watercolor for the snow.  I used DO broken china & DI weathered wood for the background before I painted the trees.  The sentiment from Splits: 'Tis the Season was stamped in Enchanted Evening & matching cardstock was used for the mat.  I didn't want to add embellishments, but needed a little sparkle.
Fortunately I finally remembered to use my Quickie Glue pen with prisma glitter--so easy & pretty.  Guess I better get back to sending cards.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
I'm also entering CropStop, HLS Christmas Challenge, VOSP & Word Art Wednesday.
Edited to add: Thanks to Esther for letting me know about the Repeat Impressions DCC126--Glitter challenge which I'm also entering.

  1. i am constantly amazed at how many challenges you can work into two or three cards - and they're all wonderful - you've inspired me to so something with the large "noel" letters.

  3. I think both cards look so pretty! I LOVE the NOEL on your first card with the snowflakes and the background - and how neat to create your own trees! I have a fan brush as well - I use it to flick color on my cards - certainly not to use it for what it's intended for! hahahaha Have a great weekend!

  14. The word background is clever and looks great with the Noel. I love the idea of stamping on the die cut like that. Your fan brush trees came out wonderful. The snowy scene makes me shiver (or maybe it's because it is so cold outside) but either way I love it.
