Wishing my US friends a happy holiday weekend as we honor Veterans who gave their lives serving our country. Traditionally this is the start of the summer season with lots of people camping or doing other fun outdoor activities. This year the weather is beautiful, so lots of our neighbors are doing yard work. However, our weekend began with a visit to the ED at 6:30am where hubby was diagnosed with a kidney stone. Poor guy is also in the midst of a gout attack, but the meds are helping & he's feeling much better tonight.
I have lots of felt, so was happy to see this week's PTI MIM challenge is felt flowers.
Mine are simply Garden Guild dies cut from 2 shades of yellow felt, but I hope to try Lizzie's techniques soon. My blogging friend, Vikki, inspired me to finally ink up Friendship Jar Flowers. I stamped with Honey Nut on kraft, sponged and distressed the edges & added a few splatters. A scrap was trimmed into a tag, stamped with a sentiment from Tiny Tags & mounted with foam tape. Finished off with a yellow/white twine bow & Limoncello Nuvo Jewel Drops. I'm also entering Double D & Word Art Wednesday.
I actually began buying felt to use for snowflakes.
My card for Christmas Card Challenges, Rudolph Days, ATSM & CropStop uses MFT dies cut from light blue, navy & white felt which I first attached to cardstock. Love this beautiful Darice snowflake embossing folder which I mounted to navy textured cardstock. Nuvo White Blizzard drops embellish all the snowflake centers & the A Muse Artstamps sentiment is stamped in denim Adirondak--one of my oldest ink pads. Always fun to make a Christmas card! Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
I think felt adds a touch of fun ( I suppose I remember using felt as a child ) but your bouquet is cheerful and elegant. I love the mix of shades on the snowflake. Two great cards. The sun is shining here in England, which is great, as it is 'half-term' (one week school holiday).
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards, Greta. Your floral bouquet is so pretty...Love that wee tag tied on your bouquet!
ReplyDeleteYour RD card is lovely. Thanks for the tip about adhering the felt to the cardstock first! i will try this out as I love the look of felt.
Thanks for taking part in the May Rudolph Days Challenge.
The felt is a fun medium and perfect for the multi coloured and layered snowflake Greta, and the background embossing is so pretty too. Thank you for joining in with the May Rudolph Days Challenge. x
ReplyDeleteYay! no NBUS on this stamp set anymore! Those yellow flowers daffodils are pretty! thanks for the name drop. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI always says that you and felt are a match made in heaven, Greta and both these cards show why! Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers in felt and the sweet tiny tag. That snowflake e/f is so pretty and the snowflakes in navy and white are beautiful. That is a great Christmas card. I hope hubby is feeling better and the meds take care of it. I'm getting everything done so I can listen to the race. We see all the festivities until the race starts. Then it's blacked out here and we don't get to see it until evening on tv. I'd rather listen in real time. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are gorgeous Greta! Oh Poor Hubby ... hope he's finding some relief! Yard work is the task of the day here in Ohio before the rains come but tomorrow is to be nice so we will be grilling ribs, burgers & corn on the cob! YUM! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in the fun at our Double D ‘Flowers Galore’ challenge! We hope you’ll come back often.

Sending up prayers for a speedy recovery for him! We are planting and doing yard work this weekend in between the rains! Getting things done, slow but sure!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Greta. Love the felt flowers and your white embossed card is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the bright yellow flowers - so cheery, they remind me of Spring, which for us, as we enter Winter in a couple of days, is a long way off. You might like to know that having heard about Nuvo Drops right here on your blog, I was delighted to see my LSS have them in stock now. I've invested in just one bottle of clear and look forward to having a play tomorrow. Christmas Uh oh! in 6months time I will be wishing I'd started my cards when you did. Love that crisp, clean style you've created. Hope your husband is on the mend.
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty and creative! Love your pretty yellow felt flowers, lovely shades! This is so rustic and divine. Love it! Thanks so much for playing along with us at The Double D Challenge Blog, Donna, DT Member.
ReplyDeleteOh, no! Your poor hubby! Hope he will recover quickly!
ReplyDeleteYour yellow felt flowers are gorgeous! Thanks for reminding me that I should use my felt! I tend to forget that I have some! The snowflake card is fabulous, too!
I'm so sorry to hear about Steve's kidney stone! I understand that can be horrendously painful, as can gout, poor guy!! Our Dan suffers from gout at his young age and it's terrible. On the other hand, your card is gorgeous and cheerful!! I also love your crisp and clean Cc for Rudolph!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteI love your felt creations, Greta and these two are no exceptions. HOpe hubby is feeling better soon. Kidney stones are horrible.
ReplyDeleteLovely EF and a gorgeous snowflake.

Two beautiful cards Greta. The felt flowers look lovely and what a different idea. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteOh what beautiful creations!
ReplyDeleteGood to see your pretty yellow felt flowers playing along in our Double D challenge, Greta! It is so not fair that your hubby had to put up with gout and a kidney stone at the same time. Miserable! But glad to hear he's feeling a little better now. Also love your Christmas card with the pretty embossing. I'm trying to get a head start this year.
ReplyDeleteFabulous Greta! Love the felt snowflake idea. I found that felt die cuts perfectly if you just pop a piece of card between the felt without even attaching the layers - and the cutting plate before adding your die to do the cutting. I think the sharp outlines like something firm to bite into :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry though to hear about your DH having not only gout but also a kidney stone - I do hope he's improving now. I can almost feel the gout here!
Hugs
Di xx
Both cards are lovely! I simply adore the way you used felt on them. Thanks for linking up to the Cropstop blog. Always a pleasure to have you play along!
