PTI for Fall

Mr Random PTI seems to have lost my name--haha!  Regardless, I love the PTI challenges & here are my latest entries.  Not sure why, but I ended up making cards to mail for Thanksgiving.  Not that I'm tired of summer already, but I do love Fall! 
First is my entry for MIM: Ombre Watercolor Backgrounds.  Betsy's technique & cards completely captivated me--simple with gorgeous results! 

Be sure to watch her video if you haven't.  I have 3 other ideas in my head which I can't wait to make.  For this card I used Terracotta Tile, Canyon Clay & Summer Sunrise.  The leaves are from my well-loved Turning a New Leaf & the sentiment is from Counting My Blessings. 

The word was die cut from Canyon Clay cardstock & Terracotta Tile--the latter being the shadow.  It was pretty with everything matte, but in the end I added Wink of Stella & Nuvo Glaze.  I'm also entering Inkspirational, Stamplorations Summer Theme & HLS Watercolor.

Next is my redo for Transformation Tuesday.  I picked a card from quite awhile ago.  The images were stamped on brown cardstock in VersaMark & then brushed with gold pigment powder. 

OLD CARD

It's pretty as you turn it in the light, but kind of plain.  I used the same layout & the images from Autumn Adornments, but this time I started with Classic Kraft cardstock. 

NEW CARD

The leaves were stamped in a couple PTI greens & I used a dark yellow marker for the berries.  The sentiment was gold embossed & the berries were dotted with gold Stickles.  I'll probably send the original card, but must say, I really like the new version.  I'm also entering WAW.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
       

Happy 4th of July!

Wishing all my friends in the USA a fun, safe holiday!  I only mailed 3 cards this year, but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking of you.  

I did make a red, white & blue card yesterday.  Just in time for Bastille Day, so it's going to a French friend. 

I really love the SSS Bright Blossoms die & decided to use it for Jennifer McGuire's Faux Stained Glass technique.  I stacked 4 of the white die cuts & put them into the negative space in a red panel.  I backed the openings with blue cardstock brushed with silver WOS.  Nuvo Glaze provides the shine--love it! 

I used a flower stem from the 2014 SSS stamp set called Warm Wishes to make the blue lines down the left side of the card using VersaMagic Night Sky.  The sentiment from the same set was stamped in the same ink & attached over the flower stem using foam tape where needed.  I attached the panel with fun foam & added a couple clear embellishments.  I'm entering SSS Flickr Challenge #100, SSS Monday & SSS Wednesday & Retro Rubber.  I'm working hard to catch up with all my blog reading.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

No White Space!

75 years ago today my folks were married in downtown Indianapolis.  My mom was only 18 years old & wanted out of the house.  My grandparents were about to divorce & I'm sure it wasn't a happy place.  Luckily, it turned out she married a wonderful man!  Miss them both.
I was determined to get a card made for the Winnie & Walter Color Challenge & boy did it turn out colorful--haha! 

I began by making the plaid panel using Scenery: Stripes and Distress Inks fired brick, festive berries, victorian velvet & fossilized amber.  The die cuts from In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals were stamped in the same inks. 

I added gold Stickles to the flower centers & gently lifted up the ends.  Decided not to add a sentiment--will just write a message inside.  I'm also entering CropStop & SSS Wednesday.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

PTI Challenges

Hurrah--the Oregon State Beavers won the College World Series!  We don't usually watch baseball, but hubby was glad I wanted to this time.

I understand why people & companies like Instagram--so much faster.  However, for me, it's not a way to build relationships like blogging does.  Of course, that means I have to take the time to write up my posts & read yours!  Today I'm showing you a couple of PTI cards I thoroughly enjoyed making.
First is my entry for MIM--Inchie Elements.  I loved Lexi's layout, so that's what I used. 

My intention was to make a Christmas card, but then I realized I needed a 4th of July card for my sister & her hubby.  No problem--I still used Snowflake Flurries, but made them fireworks by stamping in Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy & VersaMagic Night Sky.  Still have my punches, so pulled out the 1 inch square & used foam tape to attach them.

The star is made by layering 2 Small Sketched Stars die cuts inked with the blue, covered in Wink of Stella & Nuvo Glaze.  I inked just the word happy from a very old A Muse stamp & hand wrote the 4th--nerve wracking!  A bit more sparkle comes from blue Stickles & I used PTI Dark Indigo cardstock for the mat.  I'm also entering SSS Wednesday.

My favorite new challenge is Transformation Tuesday.  PTI keeps forgetting to announce the winner when they say they will, so keeps hope alive a bit longer--haha!  No luck, so far, but I love my redos, so all is not lost.  This time I picked a recent card which I really like, but wanted to use the stamps for a totally different look.

OLD CARD

I even kept the same layout for my new card.  This time I silver heat embossed the poinsettias & sentiment from Botanical Blocks IV onto PTI Royal Velvet cardstock. 

NEW CARD

I again used the white gel pen for the dots, but the centers are covered in JudiKins tiny silver beads.  I used Diamond Glaze & they truly do not come off after it dries. 

A mixture of silver Wink of Stella, Perfect Pearls & water was used to do the painting & splatters.  Hard to see, but I used my score board to make a frame.  I'm also entering AAA Cards & SSS Wednesday.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
 

Create it Wednesday~Coffee Time

It's my day on the PRS Blog.  Hard to believe, but I actually used some of my patterned paper stash! 

The coffee cup from Coffee Love was heat embossed & fussy cut.  I did the same thing again only with the cup's top on a coordinating paper & attached it in place.  Wouldn't a mocha taste even better served in such a pretty cup?!  The card front was stamped with the large triangle image from Little Things in Delicata Shimmery Silver.  I colored the open triangles with Wink of Stella--so pretty in real life.  A Zig was used for the tiny black splatters & I rounded the corners.  Love the Mini White Doily as a mat & luckily the Rose Quartz & Seaside buttons matched the floral paper.  There are fun circle sentiments in Little Things, so I heat embossed one, punched it out & added it to the cup with foam tape.  Always good to have a note card ready to send a friend.  I'm entering ModSquad, SSS Monday, SSS Wednesday & Time Out.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop Challenge...Plus

It's PTI Blog Hop day--yah!  The inspiration is bright, fun & summery.  I was immediately drawn to the rainbow popsicles--especially the ones with a dark purple section. 

They made me think of a background panel, so I pulled out PTI inks Plum Pudding, Royal Velvet, Blueberry Sky, New Leaf, Bright Buttercup & Orange Zest along with Memento Love Letter.  Since popsicles are icy, I splattered the blended panel with drops of Perfect Pearls.  Wonderful Words: Hello was die cut 3 times & the top layer was heavily brushed with WOS & covered with Nuvo Glaze. 

All the shimmer & shine is so pretty in real life.  I'm also entering CAS-ual Fridays & SSS Wednesday.

The Plus in my post title is because I'm also sharing my entry for the WCMC9 Sparkle & Shine challenge. 

I saw the square die cut on my table, so started with that.  My friends are so sweet to send me lots of die cuts, including C&9 Floral & Flutter.  I attached 2 together & then covered a 3rd one with gold WOS.  That didn't provide enough sparkle since it's a delicate image.  I pressed on VersaMark & used a gold glitter embossing powder which gave plenty of beautiful sparkle. 

The top butterfly is attached to the white ones only in the center & the wings are gently lifted up.  I kept it simple with stickers for a sentiment, a black mat & a single gold sequin.  I'm also entering AAA Cards, Mrs A's Butterfly Challenge & HLS AGWD.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
